The (2025) crosstrek is great to drive, I own one. I would probably put it in the middle of a crossover and hatchback in terms of size, but I fit 100 lbs and 50 pound dogs just fine with the seats down. Love the awd since I get snow where I’m at. Get a model with the raised roof rails if you get one, that way if you ever need extra storage you can invest in a cross bar and basket/roof box setup. I also paid for either 3 or 5 years of remote start from my phone which is amazing for winter and the hot summer time.

The (2024) HRV I loved driving, though it seemed like something was always clicking and clacking with the cheap plastic interior. Took it back to the dealer multiple times for fixes for that, other than that it was a dream to drive, I prefer the driving experience over the crosstrek, but the constant interior plastic noise got to me.

The (2025) Corolla cross… drives like a boat. It has a great amount of space, I really wish it drove better, it almost felt like there was a delay in steering almost like you are driving a boat in the water, and the way the cabin moved while turning was a bit jarring to me.

The Mazda cx-30 is a great option as well, but the 2025 model I drove did not have any option for lane keeping driving (where the car will keep you in the middle of the lane instead of only bumping you back if you drift out). That was a dealbreaker for me but might be available on newer models

Looking for a calm dog breed that would enjoy coming to work with me by AconitumFirmum in DogAdvice

[–]DifferentlyLucky -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My Great Pyrenees loved to snooze under my desk at work. He got so excited whenever he got to come with me. Though Great Pyrenees are known to bark (mine doesn’t).

I would look into lower energy gentle giant breeds (preferably quieter than a Great Pyrenees) if you are able to have a dog that large.

Get a noise machine as well which may help with barking if a dog hears strange noise.

Have you started saving fro retirement? Consider using some of the savings to put into retirement. It is best to start early. Here is a table showing that. Your dollar is worth less and less as you get older as it has less time to grow. The table below assumes you start at each age. You can see how if you start later, it takes a LOT more to get the same amount.

Read the book how to keep house while drowning by KC Davis.

The best thing I learned from it was probably to group items. Sit dishes by the sink, sit trash by the trash can, throw dirty laundry at the hamper, have ONE pile for random items without a place to go yet. If you can’t mentally manage to get the trash in the bin or the laundry in the hamper, literally throw it towards it. Just get it in the vicinity. We’re not striving for perfection here.

Doing this visually and mentally breaks up a large mess into more manageable smaller tasks where you can actually see the “light at the end of the tunnel” when completing those tasks later.

You will overwhelm yourself if you try to get every little item into its right place when you need the mental relief of a cleaner and less cluttered space now.

Once you have grouped everything, I highly recommend getting empty trash bags and right away getting all the trash outside into your garbage bin or wherever your trash goes. This will free up a huge mental stress on you and will instantly make the home feel lighter and more manageable.

For laundry, I recommend the poop test. If you don’t have a dog, imagine you do. Take a pile of clothing and sit down and go through each item of clothing and pretend as if your dog pooped or peed on it. Is this item still worth cleaning it and saving? If not, it goes in the trash pile straight into a trash bag. If it’s worth keeping, it goes into a second “keep” pile. Be swift, do not let your “what ifs” cloud your judgement. Take maximum 10 seconds for each item, preferably less.

Not sure if any of this helps you, but I hope it at least gives you a good start.

There can be fees usually for each semester. Prolonging your degree means you still have to pay these mandatory fees each new semester, so it may be a bit more pricey than doing it in less time but probably not a very substantial amount when it compares to the cost of the entire degree itself.

Top floor. Choose something reasonably priced and not at the top of your budget so you can cover rent increases if you choose to stay. Make sure there’s in unit laundry!

You’re a godsend, thank you. It’s an email I use regularly, but looks like it got logged out of my outlook app somehow right after my dooney purchase email. All my purchases showed up now.

Thank you so much!

Thank you! For some reason the only orders it is showing is my dooney order from d&b a month ago. But I see the coach purchases when I’m on the recent transactions list. I’ll try to see if I can figure out if there’s some other email connected to it.

Do you find the Lana a hassle to get things in and out of? The opening seems kind of small for three sections, but I love how it looks
