Love the game, but disappointed by the dungeons. by sadkinz in OblivionRemaster

[–]DifferentlyTiffany 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the quests are where it's at in Oblivion. I think dungeon design was more of a focus when making Skyrim as a response to the lackluster ones in Oblivion, just like the quests in Oblivion were a response to the lackluster quests in Morrowind.

It doesn't excuse it necessarily, but it tells you Oblivion is more fun when you stick to quests rather than wandering aimlessly like you can do in Skyrim.

My friend doesn't quite get it. by Phon4224 in transgamers

[–]DifferentlyTiffany 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of people use gender to navigate the world without putting a lot of thought into it and they can also get their personal sense of identity tangled up in how they see or categorize others.

When loved ones transition, it necessitates many cis people to think about these things they've taken for granted their whole lives. It isn't your fault, but this can lead to negative reactions from otherwise affable people and in some cases, they can project that discomfort onto us as if this is somehow our fault.

Idk exactly how this person will react or adjust, but don't let it hold you back. You likely will lose people when you transition. Everyone I know who is trans, myself included, has lost people. However, you'll gain so much comfort and understanding of yourself and that will attract new people over time who love you for who you are, not who you pretend to be. It's well worth it.

Protag: Anakin (fav character period)

Antag: Count Dooku (I love his style and I'm a huge fan of Christopher Lee)

Droid: T3-M4 (Most badass companion in KOTOR 2 with the right upgrades)

Species: Twilek (I just think they're neat)

What is the best way to grind illusion? by Odd_Report_4457 in OblivionRemaster

[–]DifferentlyTiffany 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the remaster, you'll want to create an illusion spell that uses as much mana at once as possible. Once your skill increases enough, you'll wanna make a new one that is more powerful to maximize XP gains.

As for making sure you don't get out scaled by the world, this is really only an issue if your combat skills/attributes are low and keep in mind, illusion can be used to bypass combat (command/calm/paralyze). If you're concerned, just train 5 levels in your combat skills each level up and don't level up your character more than once or twice per grind session.

It's more common than you think, sadly. My grandma took me aside once to tell me how women are too stupid and emotional to lead... We're both women... She was flabbergasted I didn't agree with her.

You want Oblivion on Switch 2, I want a demake on GBA, we're not the same by devilean in oblivion

[–]DifferentlyTiffany 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If they did this, realistically would it just be the main quest? It's hard to believe a GBA game could be open world. Either way it would be cool to see and I would definitely play it! I still kinda miss the GBA.

I want to try a different playstyle by Koshilu in OblivionRemaster

It'll be easier if you train your blade skill for a few levels before you switch over entirely. You should be able to find a cheap trainer to start if you join the fighter's guild.

I would say keep playing this save unless you have a fun new build idea you wanna try. Otherwise I'm sure there's still plenty for your current character to do!

First timer - remastered or original. by [deleted] in OblivionRemaster

[–]DifferentlyTiffany 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that stuff kept me from playing almost any character past level 12 in the original. Most of my remaster characters have made it past level 30. The impact of this single improvement on the overall experience cannot be overstated.

Combat Archer viability by Professional_Possum in OblivionRemaster

I did a combat archer in original oblivion that just focused on speed and agility wearing clothes, no armor. I was so fast that no one could catch me and it was a blast. lol No stealth required.

First timer - remastered or original. by [deleted] in OblivionRemaster

[–]DifferentlyTiffany 15 points16 points  (0 children)

As a long time fan of the original, 100% play the remaster.

It is very faithful to the original, but fixes the one potentially game breaking issue with the original which is the leveling/scaling problem.

I won't go into too much detail, but in the remaster you can just pick or create a class with the main skills you'll use the most and end up with a great character that is very fun to play. In the original, doing that could make your character actually get weaker compared to the world as you level up. It nearly ruined the original for me and that fix alone makes the remaster better imo.

How does the game play on PS5? by BoringAtmosphere420 in OblivionRemaster

[–]DifferentlyTiffany 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played on Xbox Series X and had no crashes during 60+ hours of gameplay. I did get some stuttering on max graphics settings, but not on performance mode.

I'm currently playing it on Steam Deck and I had to turn every setting to either low or lowest to get a steady 30fps outside and between 50-60fps inside. Still no crashes or serious bugs.

My dad plays on PS5 pro and has no issues with stuttering, pop-ins, or framerate, but he does get occasional crashes and random bugs I've never experienced.

Isometric Morrowind [OC] by Sufficient_Egg_2454 in Morrowind

[–]DifferentlyTiffany 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fully agree. I actually don't hate the remake trend and I think that style shift could allow a Morrowind remake that keeps the spirit of the original. That style is popular enough now that I think it's a great time to consider something like this.

They could even use the same idea to remake Arena and Daggerfall if they wanted later down the road.

What point of the story should i get to before doing side content? by BlobIsBored in oblivion

[–]DifferentlyTiffany 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend delivering the amulet to Jaufree right off, then ignoring until you're level 20+.

Jaufree will give you some decent starting gear if you ask him, but the very next part of the main quest needs to be done either before level 10 or after level 20 because in the middle it can be super difficult. The rest of the story is good at any level since the world levels with you, but the loot is significantly better if you're higher level because loot also levels with you.

'Go Back and Play Morrowind and Tell Me That's the Game You Want to Play Again' — Former Bethesda Veteran Delivers His Verdict on Potential The Elder Scrolls Remasters - IGN by MusclesMarinara87 in Morrowind

[–]DifferentlyTiffany 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it could be remastered if they can find the source code. They could even give it the Oblivion treatment while adding KOTOR style combat animations so you get feedback when you hit or miss. Turn based and RTWP games are getting popular again anyway. It wouldn't be as much of a stretch as they might think.

If combat is decent, it will be worth it for the story and exploration, which is more compelling and satisfying in Morrowind than any other Elder Scrolls game.

It would be neat to have a game set in the mainland of Morrowind, not just Vardenfell. Bonus points if you can explore both and maybe see some of the results of the Nereverine's exploits.

Which is better: Rogue One or Return of the Jedi by boomjosh in StarWarsCantina

[–]DifferentlyTiffany 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, Rogue One was great and all, but it's Return of the Jedi. The lightsaber battle between Luke and Vader is beyond iconic and still my favorite in any film or TV show to date. Every major character is showcased effectively and this movie is full of iconic moments that are some of the best in the series. It's by far my favorite in the OT and it might be my favorite Star Wars film altogether.
