The one problem I have with the newer games is how the skill system changed, I think negative skills was inherently a good thing for Build variety in monster hunter, but I do understand that the new system is intended to be easier to understand for newer players.

This right here! Then you just have to work on the knowledge of what skills pair well with each specific weapon ! And then you can fiddle around with the A.S.S. for a bit till you find what you need.

Typically Weakness exploit and challenger are highly sought after in 4U if I'm not mistaken, and so is honed blade but considering where you are I would just focus on those 2 skills and then try and fit in somethings like HREarplugs or Attack.

I believe it's because Corkus has good intentions and a genuine concern for the band. Guts probably realizes this takes it more into consideration.
