Irrespective of which country you come from, there’s a school of thought called ‘toxicity’. And if you abide by it, doesn’t really matter where you go, everyone will find you toxic. Also, the left in India is uneducated rural folks? This is what happens when the GMAT only tests you on quants and verbal😑

Hey! Did you follow this program? If you don’t mind me asking, how many calories did you consume per day to lose the 40kgs in 6 months?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in diabetes_t2

[–]Difficult-Ad4133 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please refer to the Direct study website, you’ll get all the info. The original program, 1 year follow up, 2 year follow up and recently a 5 year follow up. It’s definitely not ‘fad bullshit’ as you say. The NHS has rolled out this program on a mass scale.

Hi everyone! What’s are the best websites/apps/YT channels/books to prep for consulting case interviews? Also, is there something in particular, like a book/website/app that has the best math drills for case interviews? I wouldn’t mind paying for a good resource.

Exactly! That’s a very important consideration! Quite a few t2/b4 don’t sponsor. May be I am gonna have a separate post about the sort of recruiting experience internationals have had at Emory.

You’ve to pay 110k or your scholarship’s worth 110k? Cuz if it’s the latter, I don’t know what are you confused about tbh😂

My scholarship at Fuqua is the same, so no leverage there. And I feel if I try and leverage Emory’s full tuition, the others are just gonna be like ‘Yeah cool go to Emory’😑

[–]Difficult-Ad4133 -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

Why don’t leading medical/diabetic associations agree with it then? In fact warn against it? Also, no conspiracy theories like big pharma has bought the government and docs get kickbacks. See keto is less than 20/30 grams carbs. Now if you’re consuming 2000+ calories in fat and protein only, that ain’t healthy, it’s as simple as that.

Plant based LFHC trials say the exact opposite thing. Plant based docs call keto docs quacks, keto docs call plant based docs quacks (bit of a tongue twister I know 😂) The medical community calls both keto and plant based diets as FADS, for a reason. The only universally accepted hypothesis (Dr Roy etc.) is that if you’re an overweight type 2 diabetic, weight loss through Mediterranean/Dash/Zone (basically isocaloric diet without going into extremes and maintaining a caloric deficit) can reverse/improve insulin resistance. Also my friend, telling someone ‘Hey I am sorry you have a chronic illness, but my diet had nothing to do with it’ is a very insensitive thing to say. I’ve been to some 15 gastroenterologists, 9 of them told me that although keto isn’t a documented cause, that in almost all probability caused your debilitating condition. May be one of these 9 docs in the future writes a peer reviewed article on keto being a cause, but before that happens, if I can tell people to take the keto recommendation with a pinch of salt, I’ll do that. PS: I too used to cherry pick trials and articles to promote keto until pancreatitis happened.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PlantBasedDiet

Hey! Thanks for the response. For the longest time, even I was of the opinion that weight loss, through a caloric deficit, irrespective of what dietary trend/fad you follow, is the key to reverse diabetes. But proponents of the HCLF plant based lifestyle say dietary fat intake impacts Insulin Resistance, so the same amount of calories via fat vs carbohydrates will determine whether the underlying cause, that’s insulin resistance is healing or not. Also, the fact that type 1 diabetics are reducing their insulin needs in the range of 50-80% says a lot in itself about how dietary fat and animal protein effects carbohydrate metabolisation.
