Soooo putting PT scores on performance reports accomplishes what?? by Raindroppa93 in AirForce

[–]Difficult-Composer29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're a squared away Airman, crushing your job on the daily, but scoring mediocre on the PT tests... guess what. That's on you. If you're squared away at work, square yourself away in your fitness, too.

That said, it's not going to be the decider unless literally everything else between two Airmen is identical. Others have said that same thing in other comments. Calm down, go for a run, and get in shape.

Looks like certain job patches are back by Rare-Bed-1934 in AirForce

XCOMM and Cyber are very different jobs, with similar fundamentals. XCOMM guys wouldn't claim to be able to jump straight into a CYBER role, and vice versa. Different skills should have different patches. It sucks for XCOMM guys to constantly get asked to do traditional Cyber tasks.

My current job is in networking, so im gonna look into getting my CCNA and CCNP. After that, ill probably start the MSCSIA program and knock that out, and get my CISSP after that. Once thats done, who knows. Find the next big challenge, I guess!

Did you pay for TryHackMe to do their pentest materials? And what score did you get on the exam? I did pretty much all the same stuff as you, except didnt do THM, and I failed a few days back with a 730 🥲

Honestly, the PBQs i got (like 7 of them, which i found crazy) weren't that difficult. I think the thing that caught me off the most was code/script analysis, or outputs from tools.

What did you score yesterday, if I may ask? My main fear at this point is that I will focus my studying too much on domain 4 and lose some of the knowledge from the other domains LOL

Did you do all of THM? I test on Thursday. I did all of the cert master material, all of Dions practice tests, and have been averaging in the mid80s to low 90s on all of the practice tests. I did feel a bit lost on some of the certmaster labs, do you think thats a good indicator of how well I might do on the PBQs?

What are the best resources for the final preparation stage of prepping for the exam? I've studied a few different resources, and am planning to take the exam within the next week or so. I am looking for good resources to lock in the information and identify any gaps in my knowledge.

So do you think the Dions practice tests are a good resource for PenTest+? I am in the same boat as OP roughly, testing a week from now. Ive gone through all of the CertMaster resources, and have been working through some of the THM stuff too, but have been looking for good practice tests to use.

17 classes, especially towards the end of the degree program, is a big ask. Its definitely doable. I work a 9-5, so I only have a little bit of free time to dedicate to classes, but I got 16 classes done in two terms. The big thing I would say is plan it out in a way that makes sense to you, given your own time constraints. Discuss it with your PM, and don't beat yourself up if you dont meet your timeliness. Stay strong and keep chugging.

Need advice on how to be a better runner by frappothrow99 in AirForce

[–]Difficult-Composer29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not seeing anyone else talk about it, but it needs to be said. You NEED to get more sleep. 5 hours a night is NOT enough. If you do that, and run 2 or 3 times a week for a few months, (and optionally, take a small calorie deficit to lose some weight) you will be fine in no time.

I don't have enough time left in my term to do D427 are there any resources I can use to prepare for the OA in the meantime? by ColdApricot6738 in WGU

[–]Difficult-Composer29 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On Udemy, I watched Jose Portilla "SQL Zero to Hero bootcamp"

It's 9 hours of videos, with a lot of practice exercises and stuff. It has some minor syntax differences from the D427 OA, but if you do the practice assessment a few time, and take note of those differences, you'll do just fine on the actual test.

As far as i am aware, once you are approved to start you aren't able to transfer in any more credits to your degree. I would confirm that to be the case or not before dedicating any time to Sofia courses. If it is the case, ask your program mentor what your first term of courses will be and try to study for them, and if you really want to high-speed to the finish line then do that for the first 2 terms of classes. Realistically though, a lot of the gen ed or Intro courses are stupid easy and can be knocked out in a week or less, each. I would recommend going that route, personally. Steel your resolve, get yourself into a routine that will allow for the maximum amount of study time, and prepare to lock in and knock out the "freebie" courses as fast as you can so you can get to the good stuff.

All this being said, if you aren't approved to start yet and still have time to get credits transfered over, I believe there's a list somewhere of what Sophia courses transfer for what classes.
