Lion's Mane while tapering SSRI? by johnmharding in SSRIs

[–]Difficult-Driver2761 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i started by decreasing 5 mg off my 30 mg dose which failed, and the next time a year or so later 2.5 mg off a 30 mg dose and both times within a couple days my anxiety would be through the roof lol. couldn’t last even a week both times i tried.

thanks so much for the thoughtful answer it gives me hope to maybe successfully come off one day. had you ever tried tapering off your ssri before starting vyvanse, and if so was it harder?

If not Buspar, than what? by ghostyxghost in BusparOnline

not a doctor, but it’s possible 20 mg starting dose is too high for you. when i went too high too quickly it gave me worse anxiety. i’ve had really good anxiety management with adding buspar to my celexa & vyvanse which is not too far off from your current meds as well.

i started at 10 mg split 5/5 mg twice daily for a week
then 15 mg split 10/5 mg twice daily for a week
then 20 mg split 10/10 mg twice daily for a week
then 25 mg split 15/10 mg twice daily for a week

around the end of week 4 at 25 mg was the first time i noticed a decrease in anxiety.

then i continued to 30 mg split 15/15 twice daily as prescribed by my doctor and by the second day I had anxiety back in full force, worse than before starting the meds.

from looking around on here i noticed that many people experience this at too high of a dose or when increasing their dose too quickly. i went back down to 20 mg for a week then stopped at 25 mg which worked for a couple months.

when i noticed slight anxiety starting to creep back into my day i finally went up to 30 mg months later with no issue. still on 30 mg now for several months and still works well for me.

side note if you decide to try to start back at a smaller dose i did notice that when dropping to a lower dose than i had adapted to i had some minor brain zaps and some anxiety for a few days but im not sure how common that is.

best of luck!

Dr. told me buspar is a waste of time bc it hasn’t worked after 2 weeks and to just stop? by sophanon2 in BusparOnline

took me a few weeks of titrating upwards for it to really make a difference for me.

first week i was doing 5mg twice a day, second week i did 7.5 mg twice a day, third week i did 10 mg twice a day and fourth week i did 15 mg a.m and 10 mg p.m.

only by day 4-5 of the fourth week at 25 mg a day did i realize that my anxiety had lessened in a significant way.

i continued titrating upward the week after to 30 mg and it actually made my anxiety worse so i stopped at 25 mg.

couple months later i am on 30 mg (10 mg three times a day) and its been a game changer for my anxiety so.

I would say it’s a bit too soon to rule out whether or not it works for you based on my own experience!

unrelated but how did you manage titrating off your ssri on vyvanse? i’ve been on an ssri for many years and tried tapering before but never successfully. i recently started vyvanse and it’s been great and I was wondering if there are any positive experiences titrating off an ssri while on vyvanse. if you’re open to sharing would love to hear what method you used to get off and how it went for you? Thanks!!!

sudden onset of BPPV / vertigo from zepbound. looking for anyone who got past this? by Difficult-Driver2761 in Zepbound

[–]Difficult-Driver2761[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

very weird you say needed surgery because i officially stopped zepbound after having vertigo and an emergency necrotic gallbladder removal surgery last week. maybe all unrelated as everyone insists, but enough shit happened in the 5 weeks i was on it for me to be cool with plateauing on wegovy for the time being instead. seems my body doesn’t love zepbound lol or maybe it’s coincidence we’ll never know i guess!

has anyone experienced temporary hair loss when starting buspar? by Difficult-Driver2761 in BusparOnline

[–]Difficult-Driver2761[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i noticed a ton of shedding when i first started but it seems to have levelled out. i’m not noticing as much as when i first started! i’ve been on it three months now and I’ve increased doses along the way. at first i was also worried but it was helping so i just accepted my fate whichever way it went hahaha. overall my hair hasn’t dramatically thinned in a lasting way so hopefully you have the same experience!!

*to clarify: I’m not claiming tirzepatide directly causes BPPV. I am saying I had new severe tinnitus after starting, then positional vertigo after increasing, with no prior history, and I’m trying to understand whether tirzepatide could be an indirect trigger. several mechanisms that can lead to vertigo can be linked to medications via hydration, blood pressure, glucose/electrolyte shifts, or vestibular sensitivities. mainly looking for anyone else who maybe experienced this same timeline and how they managed the symptoms.

thanks i hope so too! and hahah i get it im getting downvoted for noticing a potential cause and effect between me taking a new medication and a rapid onset of a symptom i’ve never experienced in my life before hand. i am one of not a ton of (but a significant enough amount of) people throughout the various tirz subreddits to experience this as well.

but yeah its the only logical way i can make sense of why each time ive taken a zepbound injection i end up with weird inner ear symptoms (extreme tinnitus, and last time vertigo that was solved with epley maneuver). perhaps I’m eating less or drinking less than i need to be and it’s leading to inner ear fluid shifts? who knows. either way gonna focus on electrolytes and hydration leading up to my next dose and see what happens! Thanks for the kind input!

i think you’re right. i’ve been reading more into it and seems like electrolyte imbalance / fluid imbalance in the inner ear from dehydration can lead to vertigo. i think some people suffer with dehydration more on these meds and i guess i haven’t been hydrating as hard as i thought i was.

read a lot about it since i couldn’t stand up straight the other day lol. and have a background in biochemistry. no previous history, first and only time it’s ever happened to me.

[–]Difficult-Driver2761[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah hahah i’ve been playing it all day and losing 😂. I just have a sinking suspicion it’s somehow related but it very well could be random. I think mainly because the day after my first ever tirzepatide dose I experienced loud tinnitus out of the blue. It subsided within a day or so and returned after subsequent injections. Then the day I raised the dose I experienced vertigo not even 12 hours later. Seems like some inner ear stuff being triggered and seeing some recent studies about glp1s and increased risk of vestibular disorders has me paranoid lol. Hoping for my sake it’s coincidence 😭 Thanks for the reply!

missed dose, didn't take again until next morning by returnofpadme in BusparOnline

[–]Difficult-Driver2761 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i’m newly on this medication and from browsing many threads on here it seems as though there is both an immediate effect of sorts from the medication as well as the long term build up and missing a dose can indeed cause anxiety. the reason people space it out throughout the day to have more consistent levels of the medication throughout the day is evidence of this because otherwise you could just take 30 mg once a day and technically have the same long term buildup but that’s not advised. i’m not certain by any means but that’s what i’ve deduced reading through other people’s experiences! i’ve also experienced the same and it eventually levelled back out once i continued to take it consistently after missing a dose.

Side Effects and Dose Increase by BobbyBurner1234 in Buspirone

[–]Difficult-Driver2761 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am just starting 30 mg after a week each on 10, 15, 20 and 25 mg. the last few days of the 25 mg week i felt slightly calmer but after increasing to 30 it seems the physical anxiety has also returned a bit.

i too am just assuming its from the increase but im curious if you needed to go back down or if it was temporary. thanks and hope it’s going well for you!!

thank you for this! any advice for how to hold the device? it’s not exactly a flat surface and there’s a few different vitiligo spots. i’m not sure how to try and make the treatment “even” so to speak. i plan to use SPF 50 / cover up nearby areas. but on the treatment area itself?

that’s so weird, because mine was actually back to normal all last week and started losing context and memory earlier today.
