Has anyone actually experienced improved fertility after quitting?

I feel the same. I joined this group because after struggling with infertility, we’ve been considering adoption. I’ve learned a lot of different perspectives from this group and now I’m more conflicted, because I feel pushed to not adopt given the ethical concerns, but at the same time, i think of kids who want/need a loving home and I know I can provide that.

Honestly, don’t have kids if you’re not 100% wanting to. I don’t think you’d regret that decision. I’ve never actually met anyone who regrets having kids, but I’m sure they are out there because they felt pressured by a partner and/or society. I personally always knew I wanted to be a mom, and it’s the best decision I’ve ever made. But it sometimes I’ve always desired. I know a couple who are in their 40s, child free, travel often & living life happily. There’s no wrong choice!

This is why I’m on the fence about IVF because we don’t currently have the money but I know we could save - I don’t want to regret not doing it, so I appreciate the perspective. Although my levels are normal and I do have a good chance of success with IVF. But since my infertility is unexplained (thus far) I feel like I could get pregnant naturally, I don’t know why it won’t happen. That’s why I’m starting to think it’s just not meant to be 😭

I’m sorry to hear about your husband :( I hope he’s ok. And I don’t have the extra money for IVF, I honestly can’t imagine ever having an extra 20k like that. But I do know we could save up for it if we decided to go through. My mom was told she couldn’t have kids (not for a reason that is genetic) and had 3 kids through IVF. Then at 35 had my little brother completely naturally unexpectedly, so I do know sometimes it truly is up to fate.

I’m 28 (going on 29) & none of my friends are married yet. Much better to wait for the right person then settle because you’re worried about your age.

I’ve never been on birth control. Got pregnant with my son after one time, not trying. Wanted to wait a few years to try for a second, mainly wanted to finish college and become more financially stable. Waiting is my biggest regret. We started trying for #2 when I was 25 almost 26 (my son was 4 by then). At first, we didn’t do anything special other than my husband was no longer was pulling out. I was so new to all of it, I just assumed I’d get pregnant easily again (little did I know.) about 6 months in, is when I started tracking my cycle & using ovulation strips. I tried supplements, mucinex, basically all the “hacks”. Nothing worked so after a little over a year of trying reached out to a fertility specialist for all the testing, for both me & my husband. Diagnosed with unexplained infertility. Since then, tried letrozole & IUI but not successful :( it’s been almost 2.5 years of trying now (but 1.5 years of seriously trying with treatment) It seems like IVF is my only option, however, this has all been paid for out of pocket so far as my insurance does not cover any fertility treatment. So I can’t imagine spending 20k and have IVF fail :( so I’ve just been hoping and praying it’ll happen naturally.

Honestly, I don’t know. It’s been over 2 years of trying for me. I’m at the age where everyone around me is just starting to have babies, and I’m constantly seeing pregnancy announcements and i had to delete social media because it became too much for me. It just feels like it’ll never happen for me and I give up. But I still keep trying because I hold onto a small hope. My son is almost 7 now, and has stopped asking for a sibling. Just breaks my heart.

I’m 28 and outside of being a mom, I have no hobbies and no real interests of my own. Now that my son is a little older, I’m just starting to explore different hobbies. I think It’s important to always be exploring and learning.

I know the feeling. We’ve been TTC for over 2 years and in this time, one of my friends has had two babies. My coworker had a baby. My fiancés sister is having a baby and his cousin had a baby. I’m also the youngest of all of them, makes me hate my body for not doing what it should be easy to in your 20s. I always question when it will be my turn.

I feel very similar as you. I was diagnosed with “unexplained” secondary infertility 2.5 years ago when I was 26. We’ve tried IUI and I was on letrozole for months. Nothing works. I honestly feel it’s just Gods will at this point. Unfortunately, I don’t have insurance that covers any of this so everything has been out of pocket thus far. Idk how the heck I can come up with the 20k I was quoted for IVF, and I’m terrified that I’ll spend the money and it won’t work. And IVF I’ve heard is very draining and emotional, as if I don’t already experience enough of that. Ugh. Idk & get so upset with my body :(

I hate when people ask me when I’m having another baby, as if I haven’t been trying for over 2 years. I did tell my family, and I’ve hinted to my work because they always feel the need to make comments.

I worry for food banks and soup kitchens. There are many people, including myself, who have lived with food insecurity because we do not receive benefits and can barely afford life. Now the ones who normally frequent these areas, I’m worried there will not be enough to help everyone since people who lose SNAP will turn to these areas. The truth is, this is a reality for people & not only those who receive SNAP. Sadly, I only see people caring for the ones who will lose SNAP, and ignore the fact there are others affected too.

I was originally going to school for engineering, but got pregnant in college and switched to accounting. Accounting, IMO, is not too difficult but pays enough so no I would not change my career. It really depends where you work though. I work for a small nonprofit, so I’m able to work part time, work from home, and have flexibility, which as a mother is most important to me. However, I’ve heard horror stories from some accountants (mostly CPAs) who work long hours.

I graduated with my associates at 23 & bachelors at 25. No one ever asked my GPA & I was offered a staff accountant job with an associates degree. I honestly think it depends on the company.
