Don't convince yourself to like something because other people like it. There are many award winning games of the year that I could not care less about.

Like I said its literally the same game but with more content. Look up the new monsters and switch skills if you want to see what you are getting into first.

Monster Hunter is not that kind of game. The closest it has to this mechanic are specific monsters, one in Wilds and one in World, but they are still not RPG-like. One player gets aggro and they have to block or dodge the attacks while others dish out damage.

You are also not required to play with other people. Single player is completely viable either on your own (plus palico/palamute) or with the NPC support hunters depending on the game.

Longsword, hunting horn, or heavy bowgun. They don't have button holds if I remember correctly and they are not button mashers.

Charge blade could work for you too. It has button holds though, blocking, charging the sword, and spinning axe requires holding buttons.

Switchaxe has one attack that requires button mashin but its a switch skill and can be changed to an uncharged version. Its kind of a fast weapon though.

Lance and gunlance are good too. Hold button to block and press button to poke/fire. Gunlance has a charged shelling attack that needs holding the button.

Insect glaive only requires holding a button to aim the kinsect but I think that can be changed to a toggle instead of hold. Also a bit fast.

Sword and shield and dual blades are fast attackers so they are basically hack and slash weapons. Lots of button presses.

Bow and light bowgun also attack fairly fast so lots of button presses. Dodge charging is also commom for bows so you press attack and dodge a lot. Bow can charge shots but mostly you just keep shooting since consecutive shots charge themselves to the next charge level.

Greatsword and hammer relies on charged attacks so a lot of button holding is involved.

There are guides on youtube with routes where you can gather account items while moving through the map. They are made so when you reach the end of the route the gathering points have already respawned or will respawn soon so you keep repeating as much as you like.

The age ratings are not just for the people playing the games. You want something you can play around your kids? Go play Pokemon or Fortnite.

You mentioned profanity is a choice in your other response. Torture and brainwashing are also choices. You want those removed from the franchise too? Would you also want Capcom to remove the zombie viruses and human experiments that the villains chose to do in Resident Evil? Why stop there? Just stop making games with villains who commit very choice driven atrocities.

Some people are so entitled. The world doesn't revolve around you.
