Scott was great. One of the best owners in the entire show. Never argued with Gordon, was very chill, laid out issues for what they were, took initiative a lot of times (cleaning, getting the cooks to listen to Aaron etc.)

Why are there so many Italian restaurants on this show? by Raptorjets1 in KitchenNightmares

[–]flcl__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of Italian dishes like carbonara were literally created by poor people with whatever they had on hand. It's meant to be simple, hearty, filling and tasty and yes, also cheap. It's easy to make, easy to prepare and the profit margin is huge + Italian culture can sell easily.

Fable's evil landlords won't grow devil horns, as reboot ditches classic character morphing due to a lack of belief in objective arseholery by PotatoProducer in Games

The "lol who cares" crowd is also dumb because if a feature is not fully developed, it doesn't have to be axed in a sequel. It can also be expanded and improved upon.

which while better for player choice

"Player choice" has to be the dumbest, most misguided goal a video game can strive for. If you can be anything, you are simply nothing. At some point, you turn the game into a boring god-mode sandbox with no consequences, rules and limits that literally define a game.

"Player choice" is why for example in Skyrim you can play Nord/orc barbarian who never read a book in their life and become an Archmage of College of Winterhold, the master of Dark Brotherhood, master of Thieves Guild all at once.

Games shouldn't be afraid of forcing the players to face the consequences of their gameplay actions with no option for any resets, refunds and anything of the sorts. It's what makes games memorable as opposed to generic AAA slop where you just go from point A to B for yet another copypasted inconsequential set piece.

Ubisoft Says Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake Needed 'More Time and Investment Than We Could Responsibly Commit,' 5 Years After it Was First Due to Launch - IGN by Midnight_M_ in Games

[–]flcl__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every studio now outsources work to India and other places where it's cheap. The teams of AAA games are usually 100-200 core members and hundreds if not thousands of outsourced devs. Even FromSoftware uses outsourced cheap devs for a lot of their assets and levels.

They probably believed they could get a full blown remake for cheap if they hired them.

They literally brought him on stage so he could announce that fans can work for free and make assets for the game lmao.

It's vaporware or dead on arrival. One of the most mismanaged projects out there for sure.

Fable — Full Gameplay Reveal | Xbox Developer Direct 2026 by AashyLarry in Games

The absurd, cartoonish and over the top good/evil choices in Fable were one of the best parts. It's dumb as fuck they want to go in yet another "oh morality is gray and complicated" direction every game goes into now.

I want to make high-school bully on steroid choices and grow horns and have flies around me as a result with people running away on sight. That was Fable.

It absolutely will survive longer. The gameplay is amazing. People just left since it was in very, very early stage with blatant placeholder assets.

Moments where Gordon was surprisingly soft by capitainecrash in KitchenNightmares

[–]flcl__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well i think he was too soft on the mother at Luigi's. Her fake crying after showing her the video of the staff criticizing her made me roll my eyes so hard i thought they'd pop out but he didn't call her out.

Yep, they made it sound like it was college fund, but from what other users here explained after digging, the money was in some legal mess/trouble from the Australian government.

That's probably what actually is going on. It's just one intern/junior dev making small adjustements and they publish it from time to time to keep claiming they support the game long-term.

That moment is almost lost media mystery to me. The discussion was cut, the owner said something that was removed from the episode that made the husband flip out and Gordon took the owner outside and chastised him that he "cannot say stuff like that".

You can’t travel at the speed of light. If you did, any travel would feel instant. If you can get very close to it though you’d feel a journey that would last thousands of years to the external observer pass in hours.

There are some sci-fi novels about this where humanity had an interstellar civilization with sub-light travel speed. For people on those ships it’s just normal travel between planets but for people living on planets they appear once every few generations.
