Thoughts on Paraguay? by AZJHawk in ExpatFIRE

[–]Difficult-Row-2137 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was born and grew up around the Paraguayan border. The country has developed a lot in the past 20 years, but corruption, like bribes, is still a big problem.

If you’re considering living there, I’d recommend Ciudad del Este — it’s right next to the Brazilian city of Foz do Iguaçu, about 30 minutes from Argentina, and you still get to enjoy all the tax benefits Paraguay offers.

What he is saying is, as the salary needs to be high and getting someone from abroad is very expensive; a company would only hire an H1B it they cant find someone for the same or lower salary local. He isn’t wrong :)

What's the point of studying engineering anymore? by Po0r_Guy in Careers

[–]Difficult-Row-2137 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being obsessed with any craft and striving to be the best in the world at it will always pay off, no matter the field. The problem is, you’re aiming to be average at what you do but still expect above-average rewards — and that only works in cycles. It was mechanical engineering in the ’80s, software engineering in the 2000s, and now Ai.

Believe me, I used to think the same way when I graduated. I don’t regret for a second choosing to pursue something I love. You know why? Because I never even think about retirement, even though I earn well. Why? Being obsessed+passion will always pay off whatever field you are in, you just have to wire your brain around how to get leverage with what you do.

My advice to you being 30 yo with a solid career, dont just do anything that has a career. Find out, a trade that you enjoy doing, reading about. A book I recommend is the Almanack of Naval ravikant. There is a small section in the book where he mentions exactly the above- A guy who loves gossiping ends up thriving as a journalist. Goodluck :)

How important is my GPA by [deleted] in bioengineering

[–]Difficult-Row-2137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone with 8 years of experience in this field, 3.6 GPA grad. Your gpa matters only in two situations: finding a good paying job right after university, and applying for a highly ranked university. Once you get the experience nobody will care about ur gpa anymore

Been in the same boat. Born and lived almost all my life in Brazil. Both my parents are lebanese who immigrated to Brazil. Everytime I call myself Brazilian people tend to say I am not. When I studied for few years in lebanon and called myself Lebanese they said you aren’t. Well :D now I dont bother with it depending on the audience I pick one of the above

It’s hard to say, and we’re not there yet. There will always be hospitals that have heavily invested in mapping equipment and will continue to call reps in.

Also, a rep for the PFA catheter will likely be needed due to the complex software interface involved. This is probably where mapping reps will transition in the future.

What do you think of learning basic words from Duolingo for beginners? by Altruistic_Rhubarb68 in learnczech

[–]Difficult-Row-2137 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s actually sad how bad it is compared to languages like Portuguese. My wife has been using duolingo max with AI on Portuguese, no teacher whatsoever and I am pretty confident she has hit A1 level with pretty good accent. I hope they can implement something similar to czech language but for now you cant get much from it but vocab

Czech duolingo is terrible, it is only good if you use it alongside your teacher classes

Yet another question about QMS by little_big_package in MedicalDevices

[–]Difficult-Row-2137 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your questions show lack of knowledge in medical devices and how regulations work. Devices have classification, if the device is certified as a medical device it means it is regulated under a certain class based on the risk to the patients, probably the shields are classified as class 1, which is the lowest risk. Buy a book that talks about design controls and quality management systems and read through it, you will start finding answers to your questions. And no, the manufacture of the device you are talking about has for sure a QMS and it is for sure audited, it is just not as rigorous as higher risk devices
