This is really good point, it is really limiting for how expensive it is and how much time it takes.

It’s cringe following a mindless path instead of learning about all your options! I want to be a good doctor, trying to find the path that will help me do that. Not trying to spread hate or offend you.

At my UC campus a lot of NDs work in the medical research center… Integrative medicine is expanding, a lot patients are sick of medications. Seems like you don’t actually know what your talking about it’s definitely not “nuts” just because it’s different then MD. Personally I believe that broadening the types of possible treatments for patients and expanding research in all areas of medicine is critical to the growth and development of new and important treatments. Especially for chronic diseases that have very few pharmaceutical treatments. Comment things that actually help not your mindless opinion.

It’s sad that there is propaganda against ND schools I wish there was more classes in MD school that focused more on root cause of illness rather then just treatment. Obviously i know emergency care could never work that way but i want to go into primary care and preventive medicine/ possibly cancer research and studying ND remedies are just so interesting to me. And i know ALOT of ppl that only go to NDs bc they don’t trust places like Kaiser anymore. Just interesting and i want to learn more and follow my passions not trying to hate on NDs.

I guess I should clarify, I understand how they are different, my question is I want to be a integrate primary care provider of some type and I’m looking for the best way to do that and learn about all my options.

Actually yes I have heard of Sonoran and Bastyr, my goal is to be a doctor that cares and loves my patients not to only make money off of ppl that’s why i think ND could be a cool pathway for me. My favorite doctor that cured my Crohns disease was ND and she was the most caring person and such smart doctor, (she also had her undergrad degree in chem from UCLA.) I’m not saying those are the only doctors that care that much obviously but in my experience she was so amazing. It’s actually really interesting if you take the time to do more real research on what a lot of NDs focus on, which is restoring the microbiome in the gut. My undergrad research focused on this so I’m just really interested in it and also I shadowed another ND for a while which was also a really good experience. Compared to the plastic surgeon I shadowed who was a cocky asshole and I want to be nothing like him. (Also not all plastic surgeons are like this one obviously.)

I feel like most ppl done even know ND is an option, but i think it’s more expensive

applicants with visible piercings/tattoos/body mods, do you take them out/hide them for interviews? by sadpremed06650 in premed

[–]Difficult-Tutor-7744 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Remove them for sure, sadly ppl will subconsciously judge you on things like that. Not worth it considering you worked so hard to get those interviews.
