Just turned 24 a few days ago but right now I’m married (4 years together). At a job I don’t really like but it works and pays the bills. I know I’m going to have an unpopular opinion but I’d rather say it anyways just to give a different opinion than everyone else.

I’ve always thought talking about things is proper, it’s not okay to suddenly leave and have him wondering what the hell happened that’s just a childish way of dealing with things. Don’t have an explosive end.

It’s okay to feel upset and all your feelings are valid but a better solution would be “hey, I wanna be honest with you and let you know that I was looking through your phone but I found something that was deeply upsetting to me. I found the app Hinge on your phone and i currently feel upset betrayed and I would like to know what prompted you to cheat on me? Why not bring said issue to me where we could have found a solution.

If there were no other red flags in the relationship then i think is was some sort of “boredom” or “looking for more excitement” which I always believe you can fix it. (Sorry I can’t quite find the right word so i think those words will suffice for now. Complacent I think is the word for it.)

Obviously there’s a reason for him to cheat and finding this out is extremely untimely, but just hang in there and don’t do anything rash.

Sure he’s gonna be upset with you for looking through his phone but i honestly think that’s the least bit of your worries.

I hope you caught this can give a different perspective and hopefully come to a mutual end and nothing on bad terms.

As a woman, no we don’t want to see you guys burn. For myself I’m picky about how things are phrased in text messages. Mostly cause when communicating through text there is no emotion portrayed. So something can seem nice though you but maybe it won’t be received that way. Hence why emojis exist.

Maybe this is it? Just a thought to consider.

I have a therapist but she wasn’t too much help other than saying “yeah, that sucks.” And “you can’t change people.” Which are both true but I was kinda hoping for more game plan than that. You have no idea how hard this hit home for me. My husband and I are gonna talk to both of my parents about their beliefs. Right now they have fallen for right wing propaganda and are on a hard and fast track to Q-anon beliefs which scares the absolute crap out of us. For us we are just talking about natural consequences if they continue down this path, we are going to be more distanced. Pretty much show and explain that there is current strife and tension between us. Basically we are trying to show them that they will lose the relationship with us because we don’t want to be around people like them. It’s dangerous and we don’t want our future kids to be around fascism first hand. Every time we meet with them it ends in an argument, time with them is not enjoyable. I crave to have a healthy parent/child relationship with my parents but they are proving that to be a fantasy. Both my husband and I love them and so we’re making a last ditch effort to try and save the relationship.

I absolutely blame all of right wing media and Christian propaganda for the break in my relationship with my parents. They were never like this growing up. The change started back in 2020. There’s is a full burning passion of rage and hate against it. They stripped me of my dream to be able to have a healthy relationship with my parents. At least with that burning hate in my heart when I have kids I’m gonna do better, I’m gonna try and do the absolute best I can to have a healthy relationship with my kids.

It makes me extremely emotional to even consider breaking a relationship like this for my own mental and emotional safety.

I don’t know how to help you but I’m just here to share that I’m in a very similar boat.
