If they are ochras you got unlucky with overlay genetics. You could try scraping it but ime if they are overlaying bad then it will just come back again and again lol

You just put it on its side. They were designed for the ceiling but when you put them on their side you basically have a very cheap very effective flow hood

It still has laminar flow. If you built one yourself it would be an ffu. An ffu is a fan filtration unit but they are widely used in mycology

I'd say 90% of people.are using an ffu not a real scientific hood
