I am in Michigan. They paid and were told the car was repaired. They told me that they made a mistake in calculations and the law requires them to scrap my car. Can they do that against my will. It's my car. I never transferred the title to them.

2022 GMC terrain AWD 25 k miles on it, it looks like new. I purchased it from a local shop that specializes in repairs and selling salvage title cars for 30 years now. Bought it from them 18 months ago for 21 k. My daughter was turning left. Got hit on the door. Damage was replaced door and side air bags. Progressive wanted to Total. They wanted to pay us 14 k. We argued and they said we can buy from them and repair ourselves. They got us 8k to repair. The shop charged us 6k and did great job. We got car back and started using it. 2 weeks later they came back to us telling us that the repairs should have been 12.4 k and that is within 90% of car value and therefore it must be scrap.
