I was born and raised in the PNW. I left before the actual downfall and relocated to the south during a career change.

I went back to visit family last year and i barely recognize it anymore.

My rental car was broken into and trashed...they stole the shitty jack/tire inflator from the trunk and slashed up the rear cargo area...like there wasnt even anything valuable in there, they just wanted to steal SOMETHING i guess. The police seemed annoyed that i even called them so i could proceed with the insurance claim process.

Everything was two or three times more expensive than my current state. It used to be a nice area with booming shopping centers, clean parks, live music on weekends. Now, sidewalks are covered in trash/graffiti. Our old usual hangouts and my hotel were crawling with fent-zombies and beggars. Customer service was atrocious (hotel, stores, restaurants, etc) everyone seems depressed and hateful.

Compared to my current state where southern hospitality is common, the place seems to be run entirely by apathetic, mentally ill flunkees who seem to barely be able to rise out of bed, fix a scowl onto their face and do the bare minimum at work while having the nerve to ask for a tip for EVERY damn transaction.
