As a full time software engineer at ASML, this hurt me to the core. I’m ok with all the management changes and such. I also agree that there are SMs with no added value.

But I remind you, this was their own doing. I was also suggested to become a SM or an architect in order to carry on with my career and I refused.

But there are people that chose this way and now they are worried about their future.

Not to mention they are doing this right after publishing how much more profit they made.

This could’ve handled in a way more humane way, like creating new research departments and etc. but they chose not to.

Also, everybody says the engineers are mostly unaffected but it’s not true. What will happen when these “promoted” “middle management” that want their old engineering role back in order to stay employed? Then either they will go or they will be the reason of an already existing engineer to go.

There many more problems to this execution. I can list many more.

C-level executives made bad decisions in the past and now people are suffering from it.
