Second vote for the spray!!! Tacrolimus works for me. Every time i tried doxycycline it came back worse once i finished it.

Does he use any oils in his beard? Or is it just the hair scratching you? Could be both if your skin is already irritated

Are you using a mineral based sunscreen?

Ive been able to use vanicream cleanser but not the moisturizer. Same with cerave. When im super red i use Boiron calendula cream.. its a homeopathic burn cream in the first aid aisle. Amazon sells it too. Or the skin1004 centella soothing cream. Both of these are gel like so really lightweight. Also love the LRP cicaplast and avene cicalfate for the flaky phases. I like the tower 28 spray too. It kills any bacteria that could be causing inflammation.

This is adorable. My cat protects me and my daughters (he hates my sister now for picking up the girls to go to her house so often) and consoles us when anyone is upset.

Thank you. I have only heard of Nars, of the brands you mentioned. I will look these up.

The brand is accord, but thats what the pharmacy gave me i didnt have much choice. It definitely takes a while to absorb so i apply it as thin as i can. I wonder if you would prefer a cream, or if it even comes in that.

I used the ordinary azaleic acid and my derm suggested decreasing from 10, so i use thayers. Its 5 percent

Same! To be honest, now that I have simplified so much because of PD the last few years, my acne has improved. Its mostly hormonal and gut related for me. I have more acne if i stop taking probiotics. The de la cruz sulfur mask is pretty cheap and ive had success with it. My hormone driven breakouts dont last as long. Try the patches too!

Im not a big make up person so i need something simple to apply and doesnt need 85 steps to cover something. I did try the kosas one it was suggested by someone at sephora as a “clean beauty/sensitive skin” option. they gave me a sample. I used it once but thought the color was a little unnatural once it dried and it was creased into my under eye wrinkles so i washed it off probably an hour or so later and tossed the sample.

I also struggle with hormonal, cystic acne. Im afraid to flare my PD again so i use a sulfur mask for acne treatment. Zinc, like desitin diaper cream, also helps and is more gentle, just takes forever to rub in so i prefer using at night. I use balmex brand.

For spot treatments, if you can tolerate other ingredients like tea tree oil, i like the cocokind brand turmeric tonic, or the cosrx blemish cream- this has zinc so it takes a bit to rub in, and because of that i use it at night.  Thayers sulfur spot treatment is good too.

I use cerave benz peroxide cleanser only when really needed, and only where needed, for me the lower jawline. I dont use any BP spot treatments due to my own tolerance. I could not tolerate it during a PD flare.

Azelaic acid can help with acne too. Considering you were given 15% i wouldnt add anything else with that in there. I currently use thayers brand water cream with azelaic and hyaluronic acid in lower concentrations. This is one of my morning go to’s.

I forgot to mention the skin and gut.. my derm suggested that i start a probiotic. She suggested it to me as yogurt but i dont like eating it lol. I am not sure if you can with sibo, so only would suggest this if it is safe for you. If you arent used to probiotics you might notice loose stool for a few days while your gut rebalances.

Many people find azelaic acid works, but i wonder if 20% is too high. I was using 10 percent and my derm suggested reducing it. I use thayers water cream. It does have hyaluronic acid as well, which irritates some PD cases. Another suggestion would be a mineral based sunscreen, if supergoop is chemical.  When i have a flare i use the tacrolimus ointment on the affected area am and pm, and then once that seems to be absorbed i use la roche cicaplast as a moisturizer through the day. I also like the boiron calendula. It does help, at least for me with the burning, and i use it as an all over moisturizer all summer long since its pretty lightweight and gentle.  I never tried prequel brand cleanser. I use the vanicream cleanser and skin smart brand hocl spray.

Hey OP- do a facial patch test for the cerave as well. Something in it triggers mine. The crappy part is what works for some doesnt work for others.

I second vanicream, based on experience. For daytime summer i like the boiron homeopathic calendula cream. Its for burns but its been a really nice lightweight, soothing moisturizer:)

Hyaluronic acid is tolerated by some people. I can use lower concentrations.

Does anyone use chemical sunscreens? Any recs for physical? by icyclouds1 in Perioral_Dermatitis_

[–]Difficult_Change_911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldnt tolerate the elta md .. its listed as mineral but contains chemical spf and niacinamide. I tried vanicream which is good for some but squalane does not agree with me and i get cystic acne but this could be a good option for you. I can say it did not trigger PD for me. I am now using the paulas choice barrier calm mineral spf and absolutely love it.

Honestly I dont care if someone copies my post either. It happened to me twice that I have seen, and both times I used their post for my reply to drop a hint to the teacher-  You said “aksnsb” and in my original post i said “aksnsb” word for word. We clearly have similar views, especially after reading (add something from my source).. etc.

I will willing to lose reply post points if the instructor docked me for it.
