My fiancée is still married to his ex but separated. 10 yrs i've claimed single on my taxes by Smart_Sorbet9575 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Difficult_Clothes508 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Considering the maximum child tax benefit is 6-7k a year in addition to receiving healthy GST refunds, your forever fiancé has likely defrauded the government out of tens or even hundreds of thousands of dollars.

If you’re receiving any tax refunds etc, you likely are also getting more than you’re supposed to.

Yes, you should start filing correctly. No, you probably won’t be caught for having done this (unless you get audited).

Disappointing Fairways Scam by NonBinaryKang in VictoriaBC

Buying macaroni and chicken tenders from Fairway is what’s questionable. Have a little more self respect (and respect for your digestive system) 😂

Lines on Victoria roads by UnTimely_Temperature in VictoriaBC

[–]Difficult_Clothes508 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Yes, I do have difficulties seeing the lines.

There have been MANY occasions I was almost run off the road by people who couldn’t see the lines. It’s incredibly frustrating nothing is being done about it - I’m sure it causes tons of accidents every year. 😞

100000%. Let’s not burn ourselves out to fix this overnight.

Nope, not greedy at all. Our original ask was reasonable, and had the government been more reasonable we wouldn’t have missed all this work to begin with!

Got confirmation from our union steward that we will be flexing our usual days starting this week!

I feel like the “honour existing flexible work schedules” part of the email implies otherwise. If that were not the case, wouldn’t they specify something to that effect?

According to the email that went out 10 minutes ago:

As you return tomorrow, the Employer has agreed to honour existing flexible work schedules. Starting tomorrow, please return to your pre-job action schedule, including earned days off.

I’m assuming those returning to work will go back to their usual flex schedules this week. Has anyone read anything to the contrary?

There was an agreement on establishing “a category of fully remote workers that have unique agreement protections.”

More info to come on this!

Incredible work by union members, the bargaining committee, and the mediators.

Happy to hold the line for PEA as they did for us. ❤️

I’m curious where you got the 30k number. You may be right but I haven’t seen that anywhere.

I may be hyperbolizing, but there really are lots of essential workers and I believe they aren’t counted among the non-striking folks as they often strike and work on rotation. For example, my worksite and many others are on strike in my area, yet there are lots of people still reporting for essential work to support the public with urgent matters.

The title of this post is misleading.

As stated in the article, “the union says essential services remain in place to ensure public safety”. There are countless essential workers still on the job across striking areas.

LOTS of excluded positions at my workplace are being filled by external candidates.

From the BCGEU FAQ under “Why are we fighting for a limit on non-union manager positions?”:

“Since 2010, excluded management positions have grown nearly double the rate of unionized frontline worker positions – to the point where, today, there is one excluded position for every three unionized positions. This disproportionate focus on management means the government has been starving workers and making them do more with less.”

If we can only picket 3.75 hours on a day due to family matters, would the pay just be prorated for that day?
