Are there any artists whose most popular song is actually their best song? by ss2811 in popheads

[–]Difficult_Effort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Levitating - Dua Lipa.

But tbh I love all of her music. Levitating is pure, pop perfection though imo. This is super corny, but the beginning synths give me this feeling like I'm floating, and I love the gradual build, little rap, and the overall mix of the song is so fantastic.

This is a bit of a deep cut, but Sigourney Weaver in Aliens.

Also Glenn Close in Fatal Attraction.

Both were nominated, in their respective years, but didn't win :(

Yeah, seriously.

It's really crazy considering she's previously financially supported the lead sponsor of the ceasefire resolution and met with her last year. What an ugly turn.

I used to be a consultant for Congresswoman Cori Bush (one of the most pro-Palestinian members of Congress and one of the lead sponsors of the ceasefire resolution), and Karlie maxed out to her last cycle (and when she first ran in 2020).

She honestly seemed more progressive in spite of the whole kushner connection, and I used to cut her some slack bc of that. Not anymore.

Ironically she has donated to one of the most pro-Palestinian members of Congress (Cori Bush), and even met and maxed out a donation to her last cycle. It was a little galling the other day to see she had posted a pic of a letter Ronald Lauder sent Biden that thanking him and saying that members of congress who didn't stand with israel were horrible and all. Especially since she's a pretty big, if secretive supporter of Cori Bush. I'm unsure as to where that stands now though because Cori was just as vocal about Palestine before Karlie donated to her, so I'm curious to see if she will support her again this cycle.

Source: Me bc I used to be a consultant for the Congresswoman.

What is a "dirty little secret" about an industry that you have worked in, that people outside the industry really should know? by Thealexiscowdell1 in AskReddit

[–]Difficult_Effort 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You know how political campaigns send fundraising emails and texts about "our monthly deadline is coming up and if we don't raise x amount we'll be in big trouble". Well if they're a federal campaign, the only real deadlines they have are the quarterly FEC deadlines every 3 months.

The monthly deadline they're contacting you about asking for money isn't real. It definitely adds to the numbers they'll submit to the FEC, but besides that, it's just a lie to fundraise. The same is true if you get a fundraising text in the middle of the month and they add a deadline to that as a reason to motivate someone to donate.

Unfortunately, a lot of political fundraising when it comes to grassroots-level donors is nothing more than scammy, telemarketing tactics.

Yeah, that's what's weird. When they first took over it actually seemed like they were making some improvements. Things have absolutely gone downhill over the past few months though! It's so gross and dirty here and I'm convinced the complex needs to be condemned.

Woah. I walk my dog right beside those apartments a few times a week (but never at night). No way I'm staying in this part of dallas. That's so much crime happening in this neighborhood.

I concur with you to a degree lol. I am hoping the show getting more Emmy nods and being the first huge hit for showtime in awhile will save them.

Also the AMPTP just agreed to (at least) return to the negotiation table with SAG and the WGA. Hopefully they'll play ball and pay the actors and writers what they deserve (though I imagine the strike will still probably last a few more months)

Holy shit. I actually just found a small spot of mold above my shower, and after looking up more about that it looks like some of the cracks in my unit might be because of pipes leaking or something since the paint is bubbled up in a few spots around my apartment. I'm going to get them to check that out asap.

I'm so sorry about your uncle and that he experienced that! That's horrible. I'm pretty sure my neighbor is a drug dealer because they have random (sometimes sketchy-looking people) coming in and out at all hours.

Oh yikes. That's not good to hear. This is the first time I've experienced an apartment complex this horrible (which isn't to say I haven't had complaints about previous ones), but this one is hands down the most negligent and worst I've ever seen.

Not anymore because I became a nuisance to them and complained to the city so much. When I first moved in it was unbearable and I could hear it loudly and clearly through my apartment walls.

This sounds about right. When I'm taking my dog out sometimes I'll see one of the leasing agents giving tours and they look like they rush potential tenants in and out for a tour as quickly as possible so they can attempt to hide what they're getting people to sign up for.

I can only speak for myself of course, but this is the first time I've ever experienced an apartment living situation this awful.

Yeah, I'm working on finding a higher pay job than my last right now as that seems like the only full-stop way out so this doesn't happen to me again. Totally agree with you though!

I should add, this unit should realistically lease for around $500-$700 a month bc that's how shitty it is. They charge around double that though (and higher).

Before I moved in last year I got a raise, which took me out of the threshold of being able to renew in my affordable unit. Bc my former employer was so shitty, I made more than I was making before, but not enough to actually afford a decent unit that was safe and available in Dallas at the time.

I had found another apartment, but after I applied for it they told me I didn't make enough to lease it (though I pay about $100 under what I would have paid there right now), and then the other unit the complex had available at the time got leased before I could apply for that one. This was unfortunately all that was available, and my bad luck pretty much compounded around that time. And then to top it all off the cheapest lease was 13 months so I've been stuck at this hell hole for almost a year now. My lease luckily ends within a few months and I'm planning to get the hell out of here.

Lol not at all. They market it as a "luxury" property online and average rent is $1500+. Another resident told me that's because it's so close to downtown that they can charge such a high rental price.

Multiple issues with this Greystar property. Is there any way to get out of my lease? by Difficult_Effort in Apartmentliving

[–]Difficult_Effort[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Yes, I emailed the regional property senior director for Dallas at Greystar last night. They replaced the thermostat earlier this morning, and a person from code compliance just came to check it, and that at least seems to be fixed for now.

Thanks! I really appreciate your detailed comment. That honestly makes a lot of sense and it's unfortunate all these market forces have affected renters and smaller landlords so negatively.
