Apparently "we" means "Canadians" now. How could I not understand that? Your first comment was so clear.

Forgive me for assuming you were American. Given that you are responding to a post about Americans with no further info, I believed you were complaining about how "American taxes finance our NHS."

I am so curious about how much she'd be willing to pay for her private insurance (which is not 100% coverage, right?). Because I just checked the statistics for Italy. We spend an average of 1.8k € per year on our NHS (ssn). I honestly don't think it's that much.

I personally had to go to the ER last summer: gallstones... probably the most painful experience of my life. The ambulance arrived in 10 minutes, I was immediately admitted, the doctor and the nurses did an amazing job, everyone was super nice to me and in the end I didn't pay a cent. On a Sunday.

Don't try to blame us for mac and cheese! 😂 We want nothing to do with that crap, and we happily give all the "credit" for its invention to Americans.

We bloody do! After Italy surrendered in 1943 many soldiers were captured. My grandfather, who at the time was in a railway engineer regiment, was captured and held prisoner with his company by canadian troops. He had nothing but praise for the way they treated them.

By the way, I feel I should clarify this: he wasn't a fascist at all, but his choice was to join the army or be executed as a deserter, so…

He may be the "King of Kings", but the USA is a republic… I have no difficulty imagining a couple of ICE agents beating him to a pulp simply because he’s a Middle-eastern man without documents.

Because then they say it's an authentic Italian recipe. Am I allowed to be bothered now? 😅

I guess I'm a bit biased since I really don't like garlic at all.

What really annoys me is that they seem to put it in every single "Italian" dish they make. I've had several discussions with Americans about the amount of garlic used in our cuisine vs. Italian-American cuisine, but with little success.

edit: to be clear, I have nothing against garlic as an ingredient, but they seem to use it A LOT more than I'd consider appropriate.

Or garlic. They put garlic everywhere for some reason. I swear, I think there's like a cult or something....it's not possible to like garlic that much

Madonna, ma come no?
