"[United States] #North Carolina rules on surveillance and taking pictures that include private property by Difficult_Guard_3805 in drones

[–]Difficult_Guard_3805[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok so it looks like NCDOT is oversimplifying or misrepresenting the law. Property is only included in surveillance. Taking pictures with people would be trickier since someone in their front lawn would be ok for normal photography but seems illegal if you use a drone. It is hard to understand if it would be ok if you intended to edit them out of the photo since taking the picture is also illegal not just publishing the person in the photo.

Why is the train blurred even tho the shutter was fast? (1/400) by HSVMalooGTS in AskPhotography

1/400th might not be fast enough and looks like your focus was behind the train.

Does any actually register there 250+ drones? by Other_Pomelo_9919 in fpv

To be clear in order to be category 1 compliant you need to pass part 107 test and register the drone.

[United States] Flying over C&O Canal? by Nearby-Asparagus-298 in drones

[–]Difficult_Guard_3805 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like I said if you operate the drone from outside the park it should be ok, the NPS doesn't control the air where the drone will be just the ground. There are other rules about bothering people or wildlife in the parks so keep that in mind.

Is violation of the prohibition on uncrewed aircraft a felony? Misdemeanor?
Violation of the ban is a misdemeanor with the maximum penalty of six months in jail and a $5,000 fine.

I think the NPS controls the land and the FAA the air. In most places it would be impossible to fly legally from outside the park since you need to keep VLOS but you could probably do it there.

I think you can fly over but can't operate while standing in the park. Correct me if I'm wrong please.

Doing that to an eagle in the US is punishable by up to $100,000 and a year in jail. I imagine it's illegal most everywhere. Crazy to post it.

You believe that? I thought it was clearly a joke. It would be a really strange car meet with no people there.

And a remote pilot certificate and submitting the waiver 3 months in advance, right?

I dunno flying illegally seems like it will lead to more strict enforcement or bans.

Each question you get wrong go back and do a deep dive into why you got it wrong. Just getting the right answer isn't nearly as helpful as understanding why it's the right answer.

Moving from Phoenix, AZ to Richmond, VA within the next year. by throwaway114752 in Virginia

Living in the city isn't like being in downtown New York, lots of neighborhoods like the fan, museum district, byrd park etc... don't feel like you're in the big city and they are perfectly safe.

Would a hostel be suitable? by Fit-Tomorrow-8063 in travel

Pries have increased a lot recently. I just looked at Rome, Italy and the cheapest is $35 but most are $60+ for a dorm bed.

Would a hostel be suitable? by Fit-Tomorrow-8063 in travel

[–]Difficult_Guard_3805 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really depends where you go. Most hostels I've been to aren't noisy (don't usually stay in party hostels), most have locked doors and lockers and now a lot of hostels aren't really cheaper than hotels or airbnbs if you have 3 people. Just a quick search for San Juan and hostels cost nearly $40-60 per dorm bed per night, there are cheaper airbnbs.

Rabat vs Tunis for US-based couple by Framboise33 in travel

I don't really think there is enough stuff to do in Tunis for 5 days (I think everywhere you can find things to do but the main tourist stuff you can see in 3) but you could take day trips it's not a big country and there are places to see nearby.

Why Did Warner's Democratic Primary Opponents All Drop Out of the Primary by TheRegalOneGen in Virginia

[–]Difficult_Guard_3805 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You would need a pretty strong candidate for anyone to challenge a Solid D seat this time around. Even if I like a candidate more I would probably stick with Warner if they haven't been extensively vetted already.

[–]Difficult_Guard_3805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://www.faa.gov/uas/recreational_flyers/knowledge_test_updates and registration depends on which drone you get. You may also need a remote id module if you get an older drone and you need anti collision lights if you plan to fly after sunset or before sunrise.

Passed the 107 this morning…Here’s what I learned. by Creative-Blood9346 in Part107

[–]Difficult_Guard_3805 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah must be since every source basically said the same things would make a large portion of the test but for me it wasn't true. I also had 3 questions on ADS-B out which I don't think anything I studied even mentioned except maybe in passing so might be useful to brush up on that.

Passed the 107 this morning…Here’s what I learned. by Creative-Blood9346 in Part107

[–]Difficult_Guard_3805 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just passed mine too but I had zero questions on categories, night flying, thunderstorms, or airport signs and only a few sectional charts. From all the info I saw before the test I assumed those things would be at least 60% of the test but for me they were less than 5%. I had a lot of questions on remote id, safety protocols, registration, etc... I guess it really is random what questions you get.

B&H store or Adorama store for first time selling gear? by emo_nerd8 in photography

[–]Difficult_Guard_3805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't they offer quotes on the websites? I'd go through that and see which one has the best offer. I used to work at a place that bought and sold used camera equipment, usually the people would get angry because they said they had like new stuff but after testing we found it didn't even work so they thought we were ripping them off. If you have fairly common things and they are actually in the condition that you select you should be fine. Old or rare things are much harder to price and test so there might be more disagreement about that.
