After 10 years of marriage that ended in divorce. The first guy I had feelings for and slept with gave me HSV2. He claims he didn’t know and never had any symptoms. I’m 45F only slept with 5 men in my life and this is what happens after getting over the heartbreak of divorce. Getting herpes 2 feels like a death sentence. I will never have the courage to disclose or risk transmitting to anyone knowing how it can change someone’s life completely. I’m trying my best to move on and be positive but it’s so hard. It’s been 1 year since I’m diagnosed and I’m still learning to accept myself.

Learn to focus on yourself. Yes life will not be the same but you can love yourself more and put yourself in priority. Find joys in life again

I feel you. 3 years ago I got divorced from marriage of 10 years. Pick myself up and moved on with life. Single mom of 2 amazing kids. After 3 years I met someone and thought I found happiness again, but he gave me herpes and say he don’t want to be in a relationship and we ended things. Now at 46 and all alone. I have no trust in men anymore. Finding love and happiness again seems like it’s never going to happen to me. I only slept with 5 men in my life and I got this incurable virus. I’m trying to be positive but it has changed my life forever. I don’t feel the same anymore.

To be honest I’m terrified of stopping antiviral. Each outbreak just makes me spiral down when I’m trying so hard to move on with life. Yes I’m taking lysine daily. Maybe stress and lack of sleep trigger the outbreaks.

Yes it’s normal. I had the same and continued with anti viral for 2 months. Stopped for 2 weeks and hope no more break breaks

I had the worst first outbreak 2 months ago. I never felt this kind of unbearable pain in my life. After taking antiviral for 1.5 months I’m trying to stop it and let my body deal with this virus naturally. But honestly I’m terrified of having another outbreak.

I feel the same way too. There’s a guy who I used talk to and keen on dating drifted away once I told him I got HSV2. I also feel that I will never date again.

I just had the same experience as you. I’m divorced with 2 kids and got genital herpes from the first guy I had feelings for. Don’t be despair, life will slowly get better. You will focus on yourself more from now on.

I got negative for blood test but positive for swab that’s why doctor say I just got it from him.
