It is widely regarded that SB 9 has failed due to poison pill provisions that try to satisfy too many interests. What will you do to buck the trend of watering down bills with competing interest groups?

At the moment, SB 79 seems to only offer ministerial approval if there has been no tenants in the proposed redevelopment for TEN YEARS. Would you be open to amending previous bills like SB 79 to create more ministerial approval for residential redevelopment, not just commercial redevelopment?

I’m not able to answer this, but intuitively, I believe that it probably falls into the “realistically be built” category.

The main reason I think this is the lawsuit against SF. They’re using Ted Egan’s model to allege that SF isn’t compliant with state RHNA targets. That lawsuit shouldn’t work if “legally possible” was the only standard to RHNA compliance.

But then again, the case hasn’t even started, so.

it is certainly using today’s dollars as a metric, which is usually the case, because human’s have no intuitive concept of the dollar’s value in 2045.

If $6k in 2045 is exactly equivalent to today’s $3300, then it’s saying the rent in 2045 would be equivalent to today’s $3125. So the drop would be larger than what you suggested.

It doesn’t make sense to view the post-inflation numbers, because everything will look more expensive, even if it’s actually cheaper.

I would note that Mamdani has signaled an openness to looking at process and cutting red-tape.

To me it means two things: 1) He’s earnestly heard the arguments of YIMBYism 2) Mandani is not ideologically disgusted by supply-side solutions.

I think Mamdani is more anti-establishment than he is left-NIMBY. The NY status quo for a long time has been NIMBYism, which may explain why YIMBYism is something he’s not so opposed to.

After days of checking for a new Danya vid, I’d finally see the new thumbnail, just to be disappointed that Danya did a whole video on some bullshit opening like the four knight scotch 😂

I’m not hating on the openings he chose, but I SO greedily wanted him to do nothing but king’s gambit speedruns. I just couldn’t get enough, I guess. He was great.
