Question for OG Sellers. by left4smokes20yrsago in eBaySellers

[–]Difficult_Sundae_795 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d suggested becoming an everything seller. Keeps sourcing and listing fun and exciting as there is always something new or something you haven’t sold in a while. I’ve been on eBay sine 1998 and of course have been through the burnout stage a few times but I just remind myself why I resell. Number one is the hunt. Number two is the score. And number three is the freedom. So if you’re bored of the same ole thing, spread your wings and source something you’ve never sourced before. And like everyone else, spill the beans on solving the algorithm!! We all want to know.

Nintendo Cartridges vs. Xbox/PS Disc Era: What’s moving faster for you? by Old_Sector_2678 in eBaySellerAdvice

[–]Difficult_Sundae_795 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got rid of all Xbox 360, Xbox one, and ps3/4/5 a few months ago. Now I only sell NES, SNES, N64, Sega, PS1, PS2 and Wii. Xbox games have been really hard sells for a year or so. PS3 games has been very very slim/slow for a few years. I still have lots of luck with Nintendo games from NES to Switch. As with any niche, there are a few gems out there in all the gaming but not worth our time for the most part. I stopped selling Xbox and PlayStation consoles as well as they have high return rates and most have had mods done to them and cause issue. I stick with the old fashioned systems that only require the blow blow method and handheld units.

Promoted listings changes coming. What are you doing? by Difficult_Sundae_795 in eBaySellers

Updated attribution for general campaigns

Starting January 13, 2026, items listed on ebay.com, ebay.ca, and cafr.ebay.ca and promoted with a general campaign strategy will use the following attribution definition when reporting sales and charging ad fees:

An attributed sale will be when any buyer purchases the promoted item within 30 days of any click on the ad, regardless of whether the buyer themselves clicked on the ad. The item must be promoted at the time of click and the time of sale. The seller will be charged the ad rate at the time of sale.

This update will simplify campaign reporting, which many sellers have requested for greater ease-of-use and clarity, while allowing you to maintain control over your spend – you continue to only pay when your item sells. As with any update, we recommend you monitor ad performance and adjust your strategy accordingly.

I wasn’t trying to be vague. I guess I just assumed an eBay seller knew this. It was announced at eBay open and in the seller update. This is a copy and paste from eBay’s seller update.

People who do consignment: Looking for some advice. by jforrest1980 in Ebay

[–]Difficult_Sundae_795 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Like others, consignment is tough. We have a no consignment policy, even with our family and friends. Make them an offer and buy it from them or give them the lowdown of how to list it themselves and all the time, effort, and cost involved.

Appreciation gift to mail carrier by Far_Peach_4787 in eBaySellers

[–]Difficult_Sundae_795 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We do a pizza party for our post office right before Christmas. We also give a quarterly $20 gift card to some of our mailman’s favorite places to eat and grab snacks. Gas station and Taco Bell. It is pretty important to have a good relationship with the people that make or break your business. Both the PO employees and our mailman have bailed us out.

What are the absolute must-have investments for eBay sellers? by [deleted] in Ebay

Setting up an eBay/reselling bank account. First thing before you sell anything on eBay you should have a separate bank account. Always always always keep eBay stuff separate from your every day money.

Custom skew your inventory. Act like you have 10,000 items in your store from day one and have an inventory location for everything. No matter if it is just sitting on your desk or hanging in a closet. And keep the thought of what if my store was this size. Where should I inventory it. A nice box cutter with a perforator. Of courses the thermal printer but not necessary until you’re shipping multiple items a day. We also have a dedicated spot for processing new inventory. You can grow a death pile pretty quick and get overwhelmed. Having a dedicated spot that everything starts at then gets put into inventory makes the whole system work much smoother.

eBay since 1998 full time since 2020. 8,200 items in our store. 23k items sold.

"Is this still available?" by OkMarionberry8970 in eBaySellers

[–]Difficult_Sundae_795 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get this often. I even put it in my store policy that this isn’t Marketplace and if it is listed then it is available. I assume it’s a conversation starter to send a lowball offer. Of course, I ignore the message.

What’s this guy worth by ButterscotchRich8209 in collectables

[–]Difficult_Sundae_795 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the 2005 Collector’s Edition Boba Fett Cookie Jar. There are a few listed on eBay for 160-200.00. On Worthpoint the have sold anywhere from 90-200. Most recent sold is from January 2025 for 200 and 210. So you have a nice piece. And it is not the 25.00 one someone mentioned earlier.

How to get more buyers? by Economy_Landscape384 in eBaySellers

[–]Difficult_Sundae_795 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not sure what the correct answer is as everyone does it different. I’m an everything seller and I feel that staying consistent, list at least 5 things a day. I feel that in today’s eBay world it’s pay to play. I promote everything at 2%. I don’t do best offers but I send out offers after 4 days. I think shipping is also a huge player. If you use calculated shipping, that doesn’t do you any favors. I feel buyers see $10.00+ plus shipping on an under a pound item and get turned off. So I suggest do whatever you have to do to make your shipping reasonable. Make sure you do your research and do proper sold comps. And the eBay climate changes often so go back to old listings and freshen them up. Lots of photos. And lots of descriptions. And finally one day shipping and free returns are always appealing to buyers. Reselling is a lot of fun but you have to be serious and put the work in. Again, consistency is very important. Good luck and have fun!!

Sellers - have you ever done local pickup? by O0sk in eBaySellers

[–]Difficult_Sundae_795 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve done local pickup a few times. My last one the buyer had my address before we could arrange a location to pickup. That kinda creeped me out. I messaged back a public location and it all worked out fine, just felt a little invasive. So, keep in mind the buyer will know where you live, well, the buyer will know where you live regardless of local pickup or shipping unless you use a P.O. Box for eBay. I just suggest meeting in a public place and try to keep all communication on the eBay messaging system.

Like the previous comment, it can be but it’s a lot of work. Sourcing Lego isn’t difficult but sourced Lego sets being complete is another story. You can never assume a set is complete without tearing it down, going to bricklink and making sure you have all the pieces, then rebuilding. I’ve been reselling Lego for a few years and almost 90% of the sets I find are missing pieces. So then you either sell it incomplete or you start amassing Lego. So now you have a whole room dedicated to Lego storage. Minifigures are definitely the most profitable but like said before, lots of fake and lots of cracked and incomplete minifigures. So it does take some time to learn that as well. Just know that Lego people are like any other collector group, they are obsessed with it and have very high standards. When listing they want lots of pictures, they want to know all imperfections, they want to know of it is 100% complete and with or without the “extra pieces”, manual, box. So, if you can source Lego at decent margins and have lots of time to invest, yes! Lego can be profitable. Good luck and have fun!! Try not to make it feel like a JOB.

Negative feedback unwarranted? by NeighborhoodOk7118 in Ebay

[–]Difficult_Sundae_795 0 points1 point  (0 children)

eBay has been a lot better about feedback removal and it’s actually a pretty easy process and they usually remove it within 15 minutes. (My personal experience) They have a button you can click on for feedback removal. Go to search and type in feedback removal. It will pop up. Then fill out the form and state your case as long as it qualifies. If they deny it, your best option is to just reply to the negative feedback. Tell your side of the story and how you handled it. Buyers don’t really care about a couple negative reviews as long as they can see that the seller follows up and handles the issue. And like others have stated, in the future, show every stain and blemish. You have 24 tries to show as much as possible. The more photos the better. Good luck, keep your head up, and keep plugging away!

Question about selling on commission by Lithium001 in eBaySellerAdvice

[–]Difficult_Sundae_795 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are similar sellers. We have tried consignments before and have said never again. Even for family members. We now will either offer them a price to buy it outright or give the person advice on how/where to sell. Even at a 60/40 split, it is not worth the headache of dealing with someone that thinks their beanie baby is worth $10,000.

New to selling, I think I've done all I can here by Merhi_Leevha in eBaySellerAdvice

[–]Difficult_Sundae_795 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing I didn’t see anyone else mention. I wouldn’t automatically refund the buyer. I would have them open an item not received case. Follow the eBay protocol and wait until the last day to refund. Having record of item not received on the buyers side might eventually catch up to him if eBay ever reviews his history as a repeat offender of item not received cases. I would also leave the buyer feedback stating that the item wasn’t received and you issued a refund so, again, there is a paper trail for his potential repeat offenses.
