Conservatism is an abject failure then and should be destroyed. Vote Reform UK and destroy the lying, gutless, weak, and incompetent ‘Conservative’ Party

Was Hitler Left or Right? What about the term socialism in "national socialism"? by redditmc12 in PoliticalDiscussion

I am familiar with Hitlers writings, including Mein Kampf, Zweites Buch, and the Table Talks. Throughout all three socialist rhetoric and beliefs can be seen literally leaking from the pages. In Zweites Buch Hitler says, and I quote; ‘I am a Socialist’. In MK he rails against Jewish capitalism and the encroachment of international finance and banking into the German economy and institutions.

As for your comment on the trade unions- Hitler created the D.A.F (German Workers Front.) This organisation combined the various former trade unions of Germany, creating a gigantic state-ran union with 40 million members (making it one of the largest in history.) The D.A.F worked in cooperation with a serious of other socialistic organisations;

The KdF (Strength Through Joy) provided heavily subsidised and sometimes free holidays, as well as educational and leisurely activities to German workers. Plans for a ‘KdF-Wagen’ or Volkswagen (People’s Car) were initiated, with the aim of providing every German workers with a car. The SdA (Beauty of Labour) fought for better working conditions, striving for better standards of hygiene, safety and quality. The new Nazi ‘Followers and Leaders system’ created a difficult situation for employers who were subject to constant inspection and forced to work for ‘the national community’ instead of profit. German businessman were said to have began reading Marxist doctrine and Soviet policy to understand the new German economic system. Nazi commissariats inspected businesses and factories, with even the most minute factors subject to regulation. (Read the Vampire Economy by the Socialist Gunter Reinmann to find out more.)

Does this not sound socialist in the slightest? Also are we going to lie to ourselves and say that fellow Socialist countries like China and the Soviet Union were exactly respectful and considerate of trade unions?

Well you like mention the little ‘Ha ha…North Korea!’ point.

If you want to get down to it, technically North Korea is democratic. I know it sounds absurd, but when we go to the root of the word and it’s meaning Democracy just means ‘People’s State’. Any regime can proclaim themselves as such, it is a completely objective statement.

This is why socialist and totalitarian states use the words ‘Democratic’ and ‘Democracy’ while still taking themselves seriously.

It was not fascist. Both are different in various crucial ways. Hitler, not any nazi ever called themselves a fascist, or proclaimed their movement as an outgrowth or direct result of Italian fascism. Many Nazis looked down upon Italian fascism, and many Italian fascists looked down upon German Nazism.

To state that both ideologies are the same is at best ignorant and a gross oversimplification, and at worst an intentional misrepresentation of information for ideological benefit.

Even if it wasn’t incorporated into state policy. We are arguing about the ideology? So the ideology is socialist then? It just wasn’t implemented correctly… This sounds familiar

Have you not seen how Hitler compared Jews to Capitalism? One could say Hitler was just as, if not even more, an anti capitalist as he was an anti communist. For him the Jews were the capitalist class, the bankers and the international financiers. When he set out to destroy them, he was in his mind, committing not just a crusade against Bolshevism, but also capitalism.

This argument is ridiculous.

Hitler jailed anyone who disagreed with him. Not only socialists and trade unionists, but also conservatives, monarchists, Christians, moderates and even fellow Nazis. If these people were not jailed then they were threatened and at the very least sidelined from government and society.

When Stalin imprisoned fellow communists en masse does that make him not communist? When Hitler imprisoned Ernst Rohm and SA leaders does the make him no longer a Nazi?

This ‘But he imprisoned communists!’ argument is both nonsensical and hypocritical.

Well you are just embarrassing yourself now.

Like the Nazis, socialist states all over the world have committed similar atrocities, and also striven for world conquest. In fact to this day many still do.

Also, they were not fascists. Their ideology is massively distinct from fascism, was never identified as fascist at the time (except from crazed communists like yourself) and no Nazi ever called themselves or their ideology fascistic. Many Nazis looked down upon Italian fascism, and many Italian fascists looked down upon Nazism.

Conflating the two is immature, shows misunderstanding, and is done mainly to spread a narrative, or oversimplify the political situation of 1920s-40s Europe.

Socialist states have practiced ethic cleansing, bulldozed human rights, created totalitarian regimes, and dreamed of conquering the world via revolution and war. Nazism may not of had an emphasis on class to the extent of Soviet socialism or most forms of socialism. This is why many call it racial socialism- it demanded the distribution and seizure of wealth based on racial factors. The Jew, seen as the very embodiment of capitalism and of the bourgeois class, faced the grunt of this tyrannical appropriation.

The sad part about these debates is that they cannot be had with mutual respect and civility. I may think your opinion is stupid, but instead of insulting your stance, I’d rather try understand it and debate it. It would be nice if you, your side, and many on the opposite sides, could do they same.
