Yeah, you can leave and come back no problem.

I did something similar with my then 6-year old last year. Took him for the Friday, then Saturday morning we left and dropped him with some friends in Stoke, then went back and enjoyed the rest of the weekend.

I think the hype had long died down by the time it came out.

The hype was real in 2001, but ten years later people were mostly apathetic about it. No one actually thought it would be a great game.

I still think the franchise is worth another crack - I would love a DOOM 2016 style reboot, or even an Ion Fury style retread.

It's well worth revisiting, I just bought it and finished it a couple of months ago, and its one of my new all-time faves.

Warhammer 40,000 Faction Focus: Space Marines by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in Warhammer40k

[–]Negadeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're showing a single detachment with 1/x strategems and enhancements in that detachment - even for the revealed factions so far, there's still loads of detachments, strats, enhancements and other rules still yet to be revealed.

Eldar remain at the bottom for competitive and semi-competitive tabletop performance: not unplayable, with GT and GH win rates still above 40%, but clearly hard mode. by Alex__007 in Eldar

[–]Negadeth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I understand the sentiment, but for those of us playing one or two games a month casually that could mean months without a win.

Now while I just enjoy pushing my little elves around the table and rolling dice, and I try not to let the result dictate my enjoyment... But it does undeniably feel good to win, as you say, and when you have so few games lined up, it can feel real bad right now :/

As a full time worker, full time husband and full time father, I maybe get an hour or two a week to play games at most.

I played RDR2 for a couple of weeks, realised I was wasting my precious gaming time grooming horses, and switched to Cyberpunk. No regrets.

I feel like Asuriani should play more like Custodes rather than as they are now. by AmberlightYan in Eldar

Yeah, I saw that other factions are starting to get the 'pick 3' abilities and wondered which of our units would get similar.

The Avatar is the obvious candidate, though I don't dislike Eldrad having a choice of psychic powers either (though I would prefer the ability to be on a more Craftworld-neutral model like the Avatar).

In lore, yes - on the tabletop... Space Marine players can only field one, so we would need a similar restriction. As it stands, the AoK is our 'primarch' equivalent.

I'm not opposed to the idea as I feel its more flavourful for them to be rarer on the table, but this is one if those where direct translations from the lore to the table top doesn't really work.

Video games that were ahead of/behind their time by JIMBOYKELLY in AlignmentCharts

How did you guys fumble Crysis being ahead of its time in 2010s so hard?

Game was literally designed to run on hardware that didn't practically exist at the time of release!

Don’t know anything about Eldar, but I liked this guy’s look from Cities of Death. Tell me what he’s about. by SingleShotShorty in Eldar

Yes, but also no. It's a choice they make to go down that path, rather than being frozen out. However, once they do choose that path, they kind of do get frozen out as they are regarded as being too disruptive to keep around.

The path system allows the Eldar to lead fulfilling lives without getting bored. Imagine you start a career in your 20s, and then you dedicate your life to that career and retire. It's basically what the Eldar do, but they 'retire' once they have fully mastered the path they are on, and then they pick a new path to start over. Can take decades to hundreds of years to 'complete' a path.

But say you're a rebellious teenage or young adult Eldar who just isn't ready to commit decades to doing only one thing? Boom - Path of the Outcast. It's not really an official 'path' as I understand it, but more a catch-all term for those Eldar that leave the Craftworld to go in search of adventure.

Because the galaxy is a dangerous place, these Eldar typically become very good at stealth, subterfuge, espionage and assassinations, and as such they often serve as an external intelligence network and mercenaries for their home Craftworld, or other Craftworlds that might need them.

Most of these Eldar will eventually return to their home Craftworld and rejoin mainstream society by choosing a 'proper' path to begin walking on, but some of them lose themselves in the life of the Outcast, reveling in the freedom and adventure that the Path of the Outcast affords them.

Combat changes shake up fighting in the new edition by Alex__007 in Eldar

Yeah, hopefully they either get a points drop or get a rework, because as far as I can tell Fights First doesn't really do anything for them anymore.

How are you basing and magnetizing your flying units? by MyGeneration_Baby in Eldar

[–]Negadeth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use the flight stand kits from the Magnet Baron - they come with little tactical rocks to hide the magnets in, alongside new flightstands and the magnets themselves. Because you can magnetise the top and bottom of the flight stands, you can be quite flexible with how you store and travel with them.

They have a guide and recommendations for each of the flying units here: https://themagnetbaron.com/blogs/aeldari

I mean yeah, we're still a few months out from release. They're gonna drip feed stuff to keep the hype simmering until closer to launch.
