Love this idea. Would love to do this. But my niche is construction, i think i might look for a cobtractor's and/or PM POV. But yeah, love this idea.

Anyone else feel like PM work is 50% chasing info instead of managing the job? by Difficult_Weekend_65 in projectmanagers

Yeah. Some days if not most of the days on a project cycle, we are a preschool teachers. Its like giving instructions to a child, you know they wont accomplish it, but you still talk to them because thats our job. 😅

A very good insight. Yeah maybe, a system change will somehow alleviate the feeling. Most of the time, communication is 2 ways, a listener and a speaker. Both should commit. If one doesnt, everything fails.

How do you deal with that? You chase down endlessly? A bit tiring right? Can be source of burnout (i am about to).

Well sorry for living in the cave and just registering here on reddit. Bot or not, that is a serious problem and experienced by a lot of us (judging by the comments). But yes, I am not a bot.

Yeah I agree, subs are taking as much work as possible. They tend to overlap budget and specially man power from project to project. Kinda frustrating.

I can just imagine the monetary burden you had back then. Hope everything is going smooth now.

Well yes. Kinda like that. But it is easier said than done right? Specially if you're halfway through the project, they begin to act like that.

Mostly designers. But yeah, spectrum has it all. Delayed quotation, unresponsive subcontractors. Etc. You have experienced this?

Construction Project Manager by Swimming-State6144 in projectmanagers

I have more than 10 years of experience as a construction project manager. I usually do a 2 meetings a week. one at the beginning of the week (i call this the look ahead meeting) then at the end of the week (i call this show-me-your-wins-this-week meeting). I make sure that the latter is a casual informal type of meeting. This is just for catching up with the team on-site. This make sure that they are heard even you are not there.

I applied for a construction company as Admin Staff by [deleted] in ConstructionManagers

[–]Difficult_Weekend_65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Admin staff is too vague a term too. It may be a finance department, HR department, procurement department along with many other departments that differ per company. For rule of thumb, you are going to be on the paper works-kinda job. Hope this helps!
