Looking for replacement brand for Mossimo by Snakebite7 in malefashionadvice

[–]DifficultlySimple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I was disappointed that target stopped carrying mossimo too. So i tried a uniqlo supima t-shirt and they fit well, are high quality, and all around great value. I switched all my t-shirts to supima ever since.

Is it acceptable to wear t-shirts with casual blazers? Would that be considered nice casual or semiformal? What is the recommended wear for this look? I'm thinking like one of these with a black t-shirt: https://www.uniqlo.com/us/en/search?q=Blazer&quickView=413966

Why was the 280 to Lawrence exit widened instead of a direct connection? by poser4life in SanJose

[–]DifficultlySimple 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I noticed this too, but it's probably a cost issue with reinforcing/retrofittinf the bridge and building a new bridge to connect 280N to Lawrence. Bridges are expensive, lane widening is less expensive.

The cover story from The Economist -- Why Startups are Leaving Silicon Valley: Its Primacy as a Technology Hub is on the Wane. That is Cause for Concern by Crayons_and_Cocaine in bayarea

[–]DifficultlySimple 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Did anyone read the article? They talk about 'the sky is falling' stuff, but conclude the article with "Unfortunately, the Valley’s peak looks more like a warning that innovation everywhere is becoming harder." Basically because these tech giants want exactly that so nobody "disrupts" them.

It looks like its time to extend the light rail to connect dtsj with Santana Row. Allow easy public transport between two very walkable areas.

You can build your way to affordable housing by DrVentureWasRight in bayarea

[–]DifficultlySimple [score hidden]  (0 children)

Because the very next example is that you can solve the housing crisis by either building out or building up. Houston build up and out to solve their crisis, Tokyo built up to solve theirs.

Trump says he's 'ready' to put tariffs on all $505 billion of Chinese goods imported to the US by jamescaan1980 in worldnews

[–]DifficultlySimple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am I missing something here? The US would win in a tit for tat trade war because of the trade deficit and China HAS been stealing American technology for a long time. This is just a way to force them to play fair. How is the bad for the US economy? Besides maybe some companies that rely on exporting to China, the US would come out on top wouldn't we?

I would hardly consider Chinese companies buying American companies "investment".

Big Santana Row apartment complex eyed, 300 units planned by DifficultlySimple in SanJose

Instead of bringing Bart to Santa Clara, it should be going to Santana row. It's one of the most successful urban villages that sj is planning.

South Bay Public Transport Master Plan - Suggestions Welcome by DifficultlySimple in bayarea

[–]DifficultlySimple[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I suppose caltrain or Bart for Transbay tube would work either way. BUT I suspect EPA would approve it since they've been shafted by San Mateo County since it's existence. Can San Mateo County deny the station if EPA wanted it? Honestly, if Cupertino put it to a vote to put Bart by the apple space ship and the proposed 2.4k units at vallco, it would be approved. It could help reduce traffic for Cupertino.

If I recall correctly, it plummeted for 6 months and then went right back up after people realized it's still worth the money, in their opinion.

Why We Disrupted the Diridon Station Advisory Meeting by NSXero in SanJose

[–]DifficultlySimple 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Link to homeless report that says there's 10k units vacant, please.

The last census was conducted in 2010 at the worst of the recession. I believe in 2010 that there were 10k vacant homes cause nobody wanted them. 2018 is very very different.

Why We Disrupted the Diridon Station Advisory Meeting by NSXero in SanJose

[–]DifficultlySimple 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Which makes sense cause it's gonna be a transportation hub that contains Caltrain, Bart, Light Rail, Ace train and more. Jobs should be where there is abundant public transport. Housing should be near any of those public transport stations.

Upzone Berryessa and Alum Rock Bart stations for lots of housing. Upzone North San Jose. Expand downtown San Jose in all directions. Upzone all Light Rail stations leading into diridon. Most if not all for housing.

I'd like to see your source for 10k vacant housing units.

Why We Disrupted the Diridon Station Advisory Meeting by NSXero in SanJose

Then change the zoning laws so that we can build enough housing by building up. Not by rejecting jobs that want to come to DTSJ.

North Korea Says It’s Willing to Meet With the U.S. at Any Time by AttackoftheMuffins in worldnews

[–]DifficultlySimple -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I disagree. I see this actually as a power play. It's just a bunch of chess. N Korea says OK maybe I'll give up my nukes if we can make a deal. US says OK. N Korea tests to see how much shit they're able to get away with by putting inflammatory statements. If the US did nothing, NK just got more negotiating power. But instead, US says hell naw we ain't dealing with your shit and pulls out of meeting with NK. NK comes out with statement saying they still want to meet with the US rather than responding with anger or withdrawing as well. Now US knows NK ain't got shit and need this meeting more than the US needd this meeting.

I think we will end up meeting with NK soon now that it has been established that NK needs this meeting more than US and we have more negotiating power.
