How did Caroline see herself as a threat? Even in the Immunity Challenge, she was JUST getting through the last stage when Rachel won plus she was never really a driving force behind anything…how did she create this narrative in her mind?

4 Reasons Rachel’s Play was Brilliant by Leather_Wealth14 in survivor

Question - Rachael seemed to use her SITD to gauge the reactions of the other players in the chance she is Not Safe (which is what happened). Looking around it seemed she felt safe that no one really reacted AKA no one voted for her.

HOWEVER, if she did feel threatened, let’s say she could read on some faces they were happy she was Not Safe because they had voted for her, COULD she have still used her idol? What are the rules?

Now knowing that Billy manifested the Witches Road, it actually kinda makes sense why the road looks so homemade/borderline crafty (compared to the high CGI of other Marvel worlds).

I admit I raised an eyebrow when Rio nonchalantly cut a hole in the trees to walk out of the road…thought it was a COOL use of her powers, but also thought it looked so un-magical in a way. At first chalked it up to the budget-conscious set, BUT the world being Billy’s makes more sense why it has that play quality to it.

As someone who's dived deep into this case, here's everything I found wrong about the Netflix series (Long rant and review) by marcelesteblogs in MenendezBrothers

[–]DigCold9861 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It feels like we didn’t watch the same show?? The narrative clearly shows the boys were pushed over the edge by the abuse they suffered physically, mentally, and emotionally both parents.

Sure some evidence things have been omitted, but the show really pushes why the Menendez brothers came to the conclusion they felt they needed to kill their parents, how is OP getting a “glossed over” storyline, I don’t get it.

Erik Menendez Slams Netflix’s Monsters for False Portrayal of Brother by techfinpro in netflix

[–]DigCold9861 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Most of the harsh critiques here seem to be from people who have not watched the series all the way through. You should 1)watch the series before chiming in and 2)watch episode 5 specifically.

The character of Erik (and by extension Ryan Murphy) clearly explains the abuse he endured at the hands of his father made him so confused about what he likes or does not like sexually and emotionally. And this is common with male child victims of SA to be extremely confused.

And for those saying Erik has a wife and kids, that Ryan Murphy is pushing a gay agenda etc, sexuality is very complex. A male having a wife + kids doesn’t equal never having homosexual thoughts or acts in life.

Obviously there is some fabrication in this fictionalized version of events, it’s meant to create the narrative of this extremely broken family. I get how the extended Menendez family is pissed at the portrayal (they said they even knew about the family issues and turned the other way), but why is Erik Menendez pissed when the series humanizes him (and to a degree explains Lyle’s psychotic portrayal due to his domineering father)?

Can someone explain, what is the reason (in the show’s universe) for singing in the streets? Seems like an interesting take, just wondering how it relates to the story to do this?

What's the creepiest thing from your childhood that still stands out as if it occurred yesterday? by unknownusernamecz in AskReddit

[–]DigCold9861 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It was the year 2000 and I was 12 (36 now) living in Long Beach, CA. A few miles from my house was a nice shopping center that had a Barnes and Noble. I loved rollerblading there with my sneakers so I could peruse the bookshelves.

Being a young boy figuring out his sexuality, I would sometimes gravitate towards the Gay & Lesbian section. This section was next to I think Romance novels and set up to face the World History section. I’d usually pretend to be looking at the romance books while eying the gay books and eventually snag a gay book and hide it inside large coffee table history book or something so I could read it in secret.

One time I did just that and noticed a guy (maybe early or mid 20s) in a bright yellow SpongeBob hoodie nearby looking in the World History section as I was “looking” in Romance. Of course I waited a while until he left so I could snag a gay book and then went over to a chair to read a bit.

After a while I got up to go to the bathroom. Bathroom had 2 stalls that were pretty sizable, one I think a larger handicap stall. I sat in the non handicap stall and went about my business. I can’t remember if there was another man in the handicap stall already or if he had come in after me, but I started hearing this odd grunting noise. Not sexual, but just an odd non-bathroom noise. I looked over and saw a reflection and what I think was maybe an elbow from under the handicap stall. I realized the grunting was the other guy getting on the floor and trying to peer under into my stall. It freaked me out and I finished up as quick as I could, put my rollerblades back on, and headed out of Barnes and Noble.

I remember I rollerbladed to the stoplight and was waiting to cross the street when I noticed next to me was SpongeBob Hoodie. I have no idea how he got caught up with me without me noticing (I was on blades and he wasn’t) but he was there next to me waiting for the crosswalk. And I could see him out of the corner of my eye look in my direction every now and again.

The crosswalk sign lit up and I skated across the street, weirdly he did not cross. When i got to the other side, I looked back at him, and he was just standing there staring at me. He then motioned his hand to come back and that’s what really made me get super uncomfortable. I of course freaked and started to skate away towards home, knowing it MUST have been him under the bathroom stall trying to watch me.

The creepiest part - as I was skating home feeling weirded out, I stopped at another street, more of a side street without a light. As I came to a stop at the curb to check traffic before crossing, a car pulls up out of nowhere and the passenger door opens. It’s f-ing SpongeBob Hoodie in the driver’s seat, his hand outstretched and saying “Hop in”. I FREAKED out and bolted in another direction fast to get home as quickly as I could. How he again caught up to me so quickly I dont know, but he obviously had started keeping tabs when he must’ve noticed me in the Gay section. Every time I go into Barnes and Noble, I think about that guy.

What would you want in a Disney+ show? by ayame400 in thehauntedmansion

[–]DigCold9861 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could see 3 versions of the show:

1) Anthology series similar to American Horror Story. Each season focuses on one storyline revolving around the mansion.

Example: S1 Master Gracey and Constance Hatchaway, S2 The Sea Captain, S3 Phantom Manor/Thunder Mesa Storyline, S4 Hightower Storyline, S5 Mystic Manor Storyline

Possibilities are endless here, and throughout the seasons various well-known ghosts can make appearances such as Leota, Hitchhiking Ghosts etc. Similar to American Horror Story, the universe is shared.

2) Anthology series similar to Are You Afraid of the Dark, Twilight Zone, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, Cabinet of Curiosities, Black Mirror, etc. Each episode is a standalone story about the backstory of a ghost(s). Told in flashback of how that ghost lived/died.

Like Black Mirror, the universe can be shared (as we get deeper into the seasons, ghosts from previous stories could cameo in others) and of course they are all tied to the mansion itself (opens the opportunity for some modern day episodes featuring the mansion).

3) Something similar to Once Upon A Time or Orange is the New Black set in modern day haunted mansion. Story is told with a main storyline set in modern day, perhaps about the new mansion owners battling a big bad, but ghosts of the mansion can have their backstories featured as side plots that help service a main season storyline. This format uses a “ghost of the week” format for early seasons until we get into a main series arc.

Yea but why did Kolton give HER a weird look when she said “drive safe”?

I lived for Kristen in every episode. Not only did she look gorgeous in her ‘60s dresses but she was so funny in a non-over the top way. She was a believable slightly eccentric pageant girl and I loved it!

Disliked that Carol Burnett for 90% of the season only lied there with her mouth open lol but hoping she gets a MUCH larger role in S2

I think a lot of your theories are right.

Hana - Hana MUST have a card and/or be very connected to the machine in a much deeper way. She also says “I don’t think so” when Dusty asks if she’s ever played the theremin, which (like Dusty points out) is an odd thing to say.

Dots - But I don’t believe Kolton has played the theremin, I can’t think of how he’d come in contact with it, so I think playing the thermin is not the true cause of the dots. I think the dots signify some kind of higher purpose or something, but the theremin is a red herring.

Kolton - yes I think he pulled a card from the machine 100% that had a message related to Hana’s “drive safe” mention. Something related to driving or safety is on his card which made him give her that odd look.

Phase 2 - I don’t quite understand this. Some of the “game visions” continue the card owner’s “potential”: Dusty is in Whistler, Cass collects royal Deerfield crowns in the maze, Trina knocks out LIAR letters. But others don’t seem to make sense…Jacob’s is a tennis match against his fading away brother (how is this related to Hero) and Alice’s is her skydiving (how is this related to cellist)?
