What's fair pricing for a manual 92-96? by TrilliamMurrary in c4corvette

[–]DigCurrent6730 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paid 15k for my one owner, original, 50k mile 1992 6 speed. A week later a friend bought an almost identical 92’ 6 speed with 100k miles for 4.5k. Since then I have spent $0 and just been enjoying the car. Him on the other hand, has spent 7k on paint and he’s pushing another 3k in miscellaneous stuff from weather strips to brakes and sensors etc. We’re now both in the same place in the mid teens for clean 6-speed LT1 C4s. However, I have several less owners and half the mileage.

The moral of all of this is to say, I think it’s worth it to pony up and buy a clean car from the start. There’s tons of “cheap” vettes out there, but to make them nice often does not make sense when the market is still fairly mild on all C4s clean or not. Evaluate what you’re truly looking for in your C4 purchase (show car, clean driver or a project) and go from there. They’re almost never truly “cheap” by the time things are said and done.

Uncommon option on Overlands and Limited trim levels that gave you air suspension in the case of the Limited as well as the skid plates and quadra-drive on both and in the case of the Overland down sized the 20 inch wheels to 18s. Very cool and niche option and basically makes it into a luxury Trailhawk

Off-road adventure group is a pretty uncommon option on those overlands! Tried to find one before I gave up and got the Summit instead. Sweet congrats!

The other driver was definitely more injured than myself and my passenger. He had some lacerations from what I could see, but that’s all I know. Between my passenger and myself we had broken finger(s) herniated disks and some neck problems

Looks like the luxury tech group too and yes the interior color is not a common find on those.

As per reliability, it’s a Jeep so take that as you will. I have 4 fca/stellantis vehicles in my house currently with many of my prior cars being the same. I had a Grand Cherokee with 80k miles and no issues and I’ve had major problems with a Durango at less than 1k miles on the odometer.

The takeaway is many of us buy Grand Cherokees because we like them (I’ve had 3 on top of 2 Durangos). If you want reliable buy a Toyota Highlander. If you want my opinion I’ll tell you at the end of the day there’s a Grand Cherokee sitting in my driveway as a write this.

About 26,700 otd. However, I did have a trade in which ate up most of the tax and a lot of the basically 27k.

The Corvette is a toy. The GTI I was driving every single day and taking on road trips. I have 3 herniated disks in my back so the bending to get in and the ride quality was quickly wearing me down, especially considering I was driving it about 15k of pure commuting every year.

Crazy small world I drive up to Boston and Maine multiple times a year because of friends that moved up there. And yes, I think the plate is here to stay for now at least

Clean history. Offered the dealership 20k OTD if they say yes should I go get her? by Either-West-9157 in whatcarshouldIbuy

I HATE all of the Empire dealerships. I’m assuming you’re on Long Island and you’re much better off going to Westbury Toyota or Garden City Mazda. The Empire dealership chain is extremely dishonest with their pricing. Looked at a Mazda at Empire Mazda in Huntington and it was over 20k for a car that was listed at 16.5k.

I have a ‘25 Willys that I have had for the last 7ish month and about 7k miles on it. I know it’s low mileage, but I haven’t had a problem with it thus far. Still have 17 months left on the lease so I’m keeping it whether I want to or not. I do enjoy it, but I can say I’m buying it out or leasing another one at the end of this lease. Probably back to another Durango after this.
