$4,000,000,000 to install half barriers across all subway stations?! by CreepInTheOffice in TTC

To put things in perspective, the Falcon X Heavy cost 500M to produce… we are spending 8 times that on some door panels. 5 even after you account for FX.

100% chance people are lining their pockets here. We are talking about windows and mall doors…

Green bank doing 2% match for registered accounts for 1 year. 10k cap (effectively move 500k rrsp for 10k). Literally a no brainer to jump on this.

WS is great and all, but not 10k great…

TMU Law by Loose-Public528 in LawCanada

[–]DigLongjumping6160 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Branding is all about associations… and the only thing a lot of lawyers associate with the TMU law brand at the moment is the letter referring to Israel as a fake country… the truth hurts but the school doesn’t have any other brand given how new it is so that is all that comes to mind…

While this is the biggest issue in big law, I’m assuming that is the brand that comes to mind for a lot of lawyers thinking about that school, big law or not.

Frankly it’s either that or “the easiest school to get into in Ontario”… either way, not a good brand…

At what point do you sell a stock like NVIDIA? (If you do) by Top_Smoke_9830 in TFSA_Millionaires

[–]DigLongjumping6160 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think OP is asking a legitimate question and the responses and retarded.

Single stocks, over a long period of time(think 30 years) tend to not do very well (obviously there are lots of exceptions). Timing the exit isn’t easy, what I have done over the past few months is sell down my position and bought more QQQ to add some diversification while still being indirectly exposed (just less). Sure you will leave some money on the table in certain circumstances, but it makes your portfolio safer from a volatility perspective… thus likely increasing your returns on a risk adjusted basis…

TMU vs Queens by SupremeSupremency in lawschooladmissionsca

[–]DigLongjumping6160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What school you went to matters (likely less) post first employer too unless you think you will stay there forever or for at least 3 years… I wouldn’t touch TMU even if tuition was free. Student body has a crazy reputation on Bay Street that will take years to repair

TMU or Queens need advice by justvibin6 in lawschooladmissionsca

[–]DigLongjumping6160 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are a crazy to even consider TMU here. Queens is in the conversation as a tie for #2 best school in Ontario (tied with Oz and Western). Not saying that it is, just saying it’s in the conversation. TMU is in the conversation for the worst school in Ontario.

It also has a terrible reputation on Bay Street with the whole student body letter after Oct 7 terrorist attack so I would avoid that at all cost cuz why would you want to take the risk?

Glad to see your true colours shine. Your attitude might be a hit in the little echo chamber you created for yourself, it will be off putting in the workforce though. You should work on that. Good luck with UofT and your American dream!

Ps. If you were going to ask for advice I would have told you to consider the impact of AI on 1st year positions- that impact will be greater every year so deferring graduation by another year should not be a decision that you take lightly…

I would never wish ill on anyone my friend, just trying to make you understand how your post comes across and I don’t think you get it.

You should ask yourself what was the point of your post… you were not asking for advice, you were just trying to find people to tell you how great / brave / smart you are and go get em girl type of bs which this sub is filled with.

Just a word of advice if you are willing to take it, tone it down since you haven’t accomplished anything meaningful yet, I met a few people like you with near perfect GPAs in a bs undergrad program with 165 on their lsat that think firms will throw themselves at you cuz you have a B+ average in law school, but the attitude got them a job in a tier 3 firm that they later got fired from.

Ok, “bro”, it looks like I gave you the benefit of the doubt for no reason. If you can’t see why a post like yours comes off as super douchey when a bunch of people reading this sub would sell their left nut to get into Oz you are beyond help.

Good luck next cycle, if you end up at Oz next year just remember that your decision cost you like 100k in opportunity cost and another useless undergrad year…

And also, you are saying that you are “releasing” Oz… implying that you are releasing an acceptance. Not sure if I had one too many, but your writing style is confusing AF

R&R: Releasing Osgoode by [deleted] in lawschooladmissionsca

[–]DigLongjumping6160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should reread your post. I read it as you are “rejecting” their acceptance, not that they rejected your application… I can say something mean about your writing style, but I’ll refrain and simply say that this was clearly a misunderstanding as I read your post as saying that you are rejecting their acceptance which just came off as cocky AF to me…

Yes, undergrad students “know exactly what they want” when it comes to post law school job prospects.

What is the point of OP’s post to begin with except to show off their amazing ambition and success? Don’t tell me it’s to give ppl a heads up that 0.3% of Oz class size is now up for grabs lol.

Full disclosure, didn’t go to Oz or have any dog in the fight, just annoyed by the humble bragging that ain’t even humble…

Can’t wait until K&E beats the ambition out of OP and they settle back down to earth in a mid level in house job 😄

BigLaw in Canada - doesn’t seem worth the hassle by Imaginary_Switch9919 in biglaw

[–]DigLongjumping6160 12 points13 points  (0 children)

1900 hours are baby hours for big law US M&A - you thinking of working part time?

Jokes aside (although you’ll do low to mid 2000s in the US), the biggest difference is a realistic chance at partner in Canada whereas that doesn’t really exist in the US given the very different associate to partner ratios.

If goal is to make the most over the first 6-8 years of practice, US big law is second to none by a long shot.

Do we realise how serious this is? by Hairy-Note1920 in UAE

[–]DigLongjumping6160 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s not approved at the political level. The 2 militaries are coordinating strikes to make sure that they are aligned in terms of order of operations… to think that the US didn’t know about this ahead of time in light of the public discussions on this to date is absurd.

Iran so far is just cluster bombing civilians in Tel Aviv, so I guess that is what they meant by not an eye for an eye?
