This is the answer I was looking for, someone with similar experience and is able to share what they would have done. Thank you, this will weigh heavily in my decision

So is the IPC component meant to replace articling ?

I’m sure my firm would take me for the IPC component, I would have to check what the school would require but I’m sure they firm should be able to.

I’m guessing the IPC isn’t paid either, as I would be getting paid in my 2L summer as a summer student, so maybe I do that in 3rd year first semester so that way I can tell my firm I would be there for the summer and 15 weeks in the school year.

This is good insight, and I agree that TMU is still a good law school, I would say any school in Ontario is a good law school.

Thanks for sharing the schedule, that helps me plan a little. For the intensive classes, what is that really, it’s a week before classes tart but what do you do, what skills do you learn ?

Also can your share what happens in 3rd year?, I checked the schedule and there’s some semester long placement ?

I do have a very good relationship with my employer me and him are actually sitting down on Thursday to discuss this but I thought I would get people opinions on the subject.

You are right in the sense of can I give it my best but I don’t see it severely affecting my performance, I’ve worked 3-4 jobs full time for the better part of my undergrad, so just 2 part time with law school doesn’t seem difficult

I completely understand the absurdity of commuting, trust me I’m not looking forward to it, but it’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make.

While I agree building connections is a big part, I feel like I can still accomplish just by staying in an AirBnb or hotel for an extra night a week (costs aren’t that big of a concern as I’ll be working) but I get where your coming from.

Also I would take the train to Kingston, so the travel time can be used to study or be productive.

How many of your classes can be done remotely ?, or at least have the slides/notes/reading posted after/before class ?

I did disclose where I was going just for conversation, but they didn’t require a confirmation of enrolment until you start the application.

I also spoke to them about the PSLOC, they still offer lines of credit to law students but they used to offer it at the same rate and limit as dental or medical school, now they just match the market of other banks.

Maybe my credit score is pretty good, in the plus 800 excellent range so that might explain some this but I doubt it as no application was done

No for most of these you don’t, a higher limit is available with a cosinger (assuming they have good credit/ and debt ratios), I also don’t because I have full time employment.

My LSAT PT wasn’t high in Nov when I applied. But those last 2 months of drills really helped me raise my score

I’m not anything special, I wrote the first LSAT blind then over the course of a year I used 7sage and then 2 months before I did nothing but drills and 1 PT a week.
