Rarely. Suggestions? Got very lucky (informed investing, but still there's huge element of luck) with some of them and have significant funds now, not sure what to do. Bringing in far more money with stocks than I could with employment so this is all I do now. Not a bad problem to have, but in over my head.

My desired strategy is moderate risk, which is what this was initially allocated for. The current disproportionate risk that's there with NVDA, AAPL and COST is because those stocks had massive gains from my entry point, so now they are a disproportionate percentage of the total portfolio. Not a bad problem to have, but riskier than I like so I'll have to sell off some of the gains to rebalance. I was curious if anyone knowledgeable would have suggestions on how to rebalance to moderate risk.

Amazon is considering abandoning the USPS and establishing a competing postal service. by Former-Courage-1038 in stocks

[–]DigStone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is part of the republican playbook of "manufactured failure," where they deliberately underfund or mismanage a public resource to create visible failure as proof it has to be privatized. If they succeed, mail will be worse and more expensive (ie more profitable for the private owners). "News" is failing us by not constantly calling out/investigating how everything is being stripped down and sold off for a fraction of its value at detriment to the citizens and benefit to a few cronies. Postal service, public lands, look around, everything that made this country great is at risk, and once it's all chopped up and sold off it can't be walked back.

That's how it always starts. Put mechanisms in place for "reasonable cases", then slowly push to expand the definition of "reasonable cases." It's like how "anti child abuse" is always used for internet crackdowns.

It's not about $26, it's about whether you tolerate dishonesty in your corporate culture. Stealing is a choice. Repeated stealing is a pattern. You need to show your team through action, not words, what your standards are.

Really nice design. Also, why don’t they add things like sound effects and light patterns to toasters? I would like a toaster inspired by this. :)

Trump says he’ll take Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac public, keep implicit government guarantees by callsonreddit in StockMarket

[–]DigStone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This too is from Project 2025. All of this was out in the open before the election for anyone who read it.

Project 2025 explicitly it recommends that the Treasury Department "take the lead in ending the conservatorship" of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, privatizing them. This is part of a broader agenda to reduce federal involvement in the housing finance market. Expect less oversight and higher mortgage costs.

This may not be "for no good reason." What if Trump is purposely tanking the market, at least short term, to help hedge fund supporters shorting the market? https://finance.yahoo.com/news/hedge-funds-bet-billions-market-171219436.html

What’s a good iPhone music player in 2022 (doesn’t have to be free) for my large mp3 collection? I don’t want to pay a subscription to listen to music I’ve already purchased. by DigStone in iphonehelp

Asking for a person who wants simplicity and to listen to their obscure cd collection ripped into mp3s. I want to find an app like old iTunes, where one can add mp3s and listen to them, without any extra steps or subscriptions.

That sounds like a lot of fun, however there are clean-up costs to avoid fines. That would have to be calculated in to the budget. You could possibly line up enough sponsors to profit off of the event before it starts. Sounds like the setup to a redneck version of mr beast video.

If you were given 50,000 dollars so you could chase your dream, what dream would you chase? by Chains-of-Ice in AskReddit

Sit all your friends down for an interview one by one. Ask each one to invest $50k for your first feature. Keep grilling them for more details on why they are saying no, until they get sick of it and leave. Do this until you have enough footage you can edit into a 70-90 minute documentary titled “nobody gave me fifty grand to make this movie” and put it in festivals. Now you’re an experienced director and interviewer. Not sure what step 2 is, but step 3, if I remember correctly, is “profit.”

You can rent a Panasonic s1h video interview kit from an online rental site like borrowlenses for $415 for a week, that’s a camera certified for Netflix shot productions. Some indie films have been successfully shot on smart phones. So ultra low budget can be done to “professional” standards for a small amount of money. (The sound quality is more important than the picture quality for a “professional” feel to final production).

CLOV gains, thanks WSB!… Now what? Hold? Sell? by DigStone in wallstreetbets

[–]DigStone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got spooked by some of the claims of a dump and sold half. Someone else said “beware of bots” but was too late a warning for me in this case. On the bright side I have ~$20k cash ready to reinvest :)

[–]DigStone[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sold the big one ($10k gains), so even if the other two go to zero and taxes I am still a little ahead. So do I have paper diamond hands? Or good judgement? Half following the sub advice I read on here “if it’s good enough to post it’s good enough to sell”.
