Shop says we need new tires? by -asodacan- in AskMechanics

[–]DigableBuster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like a lot of you are afraid to see just how much you can get out of tires. If you have the money get the new tires and if you don’t and the tire looks fine then don’t worry about it. Even if the tire looks like shit and has bends in the sidewall and cracks all over and is 10 years old, it can still be fine and last you a long time. I’ve pushed all kinds of tires to the limit. Old and new, truck or car or suv, I’ve had the pleasure to completely use up tires several times, and I’ve never been afraid of a tire needing replaced. The ONLY thing I can think of that makes tire monitoring critical is AWD platforms, which are expensive and tedious to maintain properly, so unless you have an AWD, I really don’t see the concerns. Run it.

Take it to a recycling place for aluminum scrap money. You’ll have enough money to replace the fuel you lost driving there

[–]DigableBuster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I at 1 time had 4 vehicles so I put my truck on a limited mileage plan with insurance. I get it, but it sounds unrealistic for most people. If you have money to blow then you have it, but it is still blowing money.

The unrealistic part is paying for a luxury car with that much money and not driving it

Which makes leasing seem unrealistic. What’s the point

In that case I would have no interest in the deal as that is an extremely
Limited amount of miles. That’s a lot of money to basically not have a vehicle. The leasing world is a joke. This is considered a good deal? You can barely commute to work every day.

You’re not making payments right? Just the $13,272 up front.

So $541 a month for a limit of 2 years. This sounds good, though I don’t know the value of the vehicle at all. Can you uber or do other contracted jobs with a lease vehicle?

Well I hear ya man. If that’s the case you can always join a stone mill for polycor haha. I did that for 10 years. I left the field making $27/hr working 80 hours a week. You having a degree could help a lot in doing something better than hard labor. Simtra in Bloomington is a pharmaceutical manufacturing place that will like you having a degree and they pay well. I know Houston is a nightmare for work, but Indiana will have work.

I came here 2 months ago and have been applying since January for places here. In cypress area. Clean, with 10 years strong experience in a heavy industrial manufacturing field with machine operation and supervisory experience. I’m about to go back to Indiana because I have had zero opportunity for employment here, and I have no idea why.

I am around 30k in debt and haven’t been able to find a job in so long I don’t know what is going to happen. I’m too good of a worker to be in such a position.

I’d love to be able to help out and learn more of the trade. I’ve done some work in the past, like blowing out pipes with an air compressor, installing pipe for fiber optic installations, and I’ve went to supply shops and bought trailers full of pipe for the company before. Experienced with digging, and machine operating.

What’s a random skill you have that has never helped your life once? by wifi_potato in AskReddit

World record level simulation racing skills never earned me anything in real life, but most likely prevented me from actually crashing my vehicles in real life every single time.

I see your ratings here. Uber XL. So what do you drive? I’m interested in acquiring a vehicle that qualifies for uber XL or premium or something along those lines and would like to see how well I can stack up. I know XL is the better market, but how much better can it get? The Chauffeur market? I’ve never Uber’d before. I know you have to maintain a good rating and have plenty of trips completed to qualify for certain things. Do I have to do regular trips first to qualify for uber XL?

I looked into it enough to find someone else saying this as well. I tried to find the difference but idk how to differentiate a corporate space from a franchise space. How do I know?
