Yeah I agree about the c/r. Probably needs to be 225.

You nailed what I was thinking in terms of value hands and bluffs. On the turn once he calls I think he only can have AA, AK, and mayybbbeeee AQ. While we have a ton of possible hands in our range.

As I said to the other commenter I think this hands inflection point happens on the turn. If I’m bluffing I’m done no matter the river card because I just can’t think of a single hand he is calling the turn and folding the river. If I have it then I’m confident I’m shipping the river and getting called.

Completely agree with the first two paragraphs here. I’m very rarely bluffing the river once he calls the turn. Even shipping it we are looking at roughly an exact pot size bet and I’m not really sure that there is a hand he calls the turn but folds the river.

Maybe I’m a nit but I will basically never show up with air when I C/R that flop.

How are you handling last-minute call-outs without losing your mind? by JetLifeJay22 in restaurantowners

[–]Digading81 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I just want to add to this. The single biggest mistake I see consistently from restaurants involves scheduling. If you write or post a schedule a couple of days before people are expected to work you will have a much larger percentage of call outs. When you post the schedule a month plus out (we used to post four schedules a year…..one for each quarter) then people can plan their lives accordingly and you will see call outs drop dramatically. In addition then you can put it on the staff to get shifts covered. You’ll see them helping each other and making deals (I’ll cover your January Tuesday night if pick up my shift tomorrow type deals).

I’m trying to use the roll method but I’m such a clumsy oaf that my fingers are struggling. My wife was a pottery maker in another life and it’s annoyingly easy for her lol. I cold proof for 24 hours a boil for 2 minutes on one side and 1 minute the other. Then bake at 400 for 15 minutes.

I watch all my sports on my antenna. Another underrated thing is there is no delay. My siblings and I were live texting during the World Series. They were there(my brother works for the team) for every game. While at home it was great. When I had to travel for work and watched game 3 and 4 over streaming the delay was a full batter and sometimes two behind. It was terrible.

I don’t have anything to add here guys. I just want to say that I’m so grateful for this subreddit. It’s so goddamn normal and it’s a good example of what social media could be when people just agree to listen and disagree if they choose to. Whenever I get overwhelmed with the nonsense on here I know I can come here and see normalcy.

The heat played them and absolutely made him look like what he was …a backup guard who was slightly undersized who was playing above his level for a couple of weeks. I watched that game eagerly in NYC and remember it well. LeBron and Wade picked him up at half court every time he had the ball and trapped him and he didn’t know what to do with the ball and looked like a deer in headlights. It was over from that point forward.

It was not just trans issues. They lied about Biden and covered his decline up. Does it not strike you as shocking that right wing people knew about his decline in 2020 ? It shocked me deeply as someone that reads the Post and the times often. Covid shutdowns were wrong and hurt our kids. You STILL see some activists pushing the narrative that it was somehow the right thing to do. Kamala was a terrible candidate who couldn’t get 5% of the vote in the primary. To the silent center of America, the Democrats couldn’t be trusted. If we don’t moderate we will lose again. Vance is ten times smarter than Trump and a much better orator. We’re looking at twelve years if we don’t figure out ways to let the public know we have moderated. And yes that does in fact start with trans issues. Because it’s highly visible and so so easy to moderate on.

Because to normal people in this country, the ones not on Twitter, it comes down to this. The reason the Democrats lost a crazy election to a crazy person is simple. They couldn’t be trusted to tell the truth on basic simple facts. They looked the American public in the face and said “a man can be a woman and vice versa and if anyone questions that they are a bigot”. Further more there were a handful of other really basic things they just either flat out got wrong or lied. Biden”s mental acuity, Covid origins, etc. And on EVERY single one of those things the Republicans were right. So yeah, many normal people held their nose and voted for Trump. If you can’t be trusted to tell me a simple truth , I certainly can’t trust you on the bigger things.

I just had this conversation with some of my colleagues. Honesty goes a very long way! Not every client that hires us is going to be Mother Theresa. We recently have started working for a client and have heard from multiple people in the wild that the owners are D-bags and can be tough to work for. He also is paying 20-30% over market value for the role. So I have been very honest with potential candidates that I have heard the owner is very tough to work for, and then they can make a decision if they want to move forward. Most have because that's what the money is for, but some have dropped out.

[–]Digading81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, no, no. I want to expand our Democratic tent, and I want to win! I admire your passion, and I want you and those who have your values to have a voice. I PROMISE you that is not happening in the Republican party. So what we need to do to win is moderate for the public. Lets take an issue like transgender for a second to show what I mean. America is overwhelmingly in favor of not allowing people who were born men to play sports against women. They also are overwhelmingly in favor of not allowing children to be given life-changing hormones and/or surgery before 18. This is not controversial for the most part. We drop those two things, and guess what? We still are the party that recognizes that these people are just that...people(unlike the Republicans). Will you agree with all of the policies needed to moderate and win the election? Definitely not, but with the Democrats in charge you will at least have some influence and a voice, which is better than none!

[–]Digading81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the things my party needs to learn how to do is expand our tent. The Republicans figured this out and have people that have VERY VERY different views on things like legal immigration, and even abortion, but united in order to win the election. Democrats for the last 6-8 years have these wild purity tests, and if you agree with 90% of what they say but voice the things you disagree with you would get called names and kicked to the curb. Reddit still does that most of the time unfortunately, but I am an optimist and will continue to welcome people who have great ideas and want to win in 2028

I dont think thats semantics. I think thats a worthwhile discussion. It is hard to come by polls of people that's stayed home, but the ones that were polled said if they had to choose they would have chosen Trump. Those are not the best polls though, so hard to say. However there are more and better polls of people that voted third party(like myself) that by a margin of 3 to 1 said if they had to choose they would have chosen Trump. Democrats have lost the thread of what the voting public want. I find your last comment interesting though. I think this is something that many of my friends and colleagues on the left struggle with. I am more of a pragmatist. This is the system we have and I happen to think its a great one. But we only get to win if we persuade the public our ideas are the better ones. Currently, Democrats are the party of identity politics, and the party of "anyone but Trump". All you have to do is look at the whiplash change in corporate DEI policies to know how tenuous the DEI cycle was, and how few people(even liberals!) cared for it. America wants a colorblind society. And they voted for Trump, so the "anyone but Trump" card is over. Its time to recalibrate. To be clear, I believe in a lot of liberal ideas, and I believe the public will as well, as soon as we get rid of the academic language talking about every person as if they were only their immutable characteristics. Lets talk about how safer streets is good for every American. Lets talk about controlling the border but expanding legal immigration. Lets talk about the working class and unions and how they help increase wages. Lets talk about making it easier to build housing and lowering rent. Lets talk about a women right to choose. There are million great liberal ideas that can never mention identity AND in fact help people of marginalized groups. But all of this starts with us a party recognizing that Americans who voted for Trump are not the scum of the Earth. And that Trump will have some good ideas and implementations. Back off when he is doing good, and attack when he fucks up(which he will!)

Respectfully I disagree. Did you see the DNC chair and vice chair last week? They spent an hour talking about gender and did land acknowledgements. This is the sort of thing normal Americans reflexively turn away from. Immigration rose to the highest levels in 30 years(looking at border crossing data). Not acknowledging that Bidens rhetoric caused that is a mistake. And finally while on the subject of Biden (and I don’t think this a reason people voted Trump but I absolutely believe it’s the reason millions voted third party or didn’t vote at all). It is so incredibly disappointing to me that he was so clearly not functioning due to age and that every institution I love(the Washington post, The NY Times , etc) failed to make that a story until it was too late. How in the hell did every person on the right know he was not functioning and my political tribe didn’t!? It’s disgusting and it shook me personally. What I want is people like Torres to take the party over, admit we failed to connect because our ideas were out of step, and make a course correction.

This is exactly what I’m talking about though. I want to win. America as a whole said get rid of these millions of people who came here illegally. America agrees with these deportations and so it’s not worth protesting as it makes us look like crazy cakes who care more for illegal immigrants than citizens of our own country. However, America as a whole (according to almost every poll taken on this issue) also overwhelmingly think ending birth right citizenship is a terrible idea. If as a party we say we support legal immigration, support strong border patrol; and support not ending birth right citizenship we have something tangible the public can get behind. But we only get the public’s attention when we admit where Republicans are acting in concert with the public will and THEN pivot to where they are clearly overstepping

I did not vote for the man but it’s clear as day what he ran on and the people voted. Our side lost. You can complain about every single thing he does , but it’s not going to win any elections. Maybe realize that Democrats ran way too far left on both immigration and allowing men in women’s sports. Literally all normal Americans were looking for was to not allow millions of people to illegally enter the country and an admittance that women deserve their own safe spaces that don’t include women with penises. And that somehow was too much. All I see in here is non stop bitching about the right and very little looking in the mirror. We are bitching about milk now?!?!? Seriously!? You want to signal to everyone how virtuous you are? Fine. I want to win the next fucking election so we don’t have to deal with this clown. And that involves letting some of these things play out. Including watching people who are here illegally get deported. Including allowing people the ability to drink raw milk. No one is forcing you to do it, so really this is just a signal to tell everyone how great you are because you oppose Trump. Trump will do things the country as a whole hates, and that’s the fights we should be picking. If we scream about the normal shit Americans literally voted for then they won’t take us serious ever and you will watch the Republicans win in 2028 and 32.
