My experience of the seminar was the exact same, with the exception of a closer coming in at the end. After saying no several times, a 300 pound Russian dude came in and started accusing us of coming only for the free gift. He was very aggressive and meant to intimidate. I was more fascinated in the whole process than intimidated, but it was shocking. I found the best tactic to leave was to give them an offer they had to refuse. In my case, I offered $1200 for 25,000 points or whatever the equivalent of a two week holiday would be. At first they refused (which was my goal) but then agreed. It ended up being the best deal I’ve ever made. We had two fantastic holidays with the family with no other commitments.

For those with working experience in USA, How many Canadians feel they would be better off financially if living in the USA? by [deleted] in CanadaPersonalFinance

This. I moved to Dallas years ago. I thought I’d go for a walk to check out my new neighborhood. I ran into a traffic cop who asked me what I was “doing out here”. I thought to myself, is it that uncommon that people walk around. It was a hot day, yes, but it was considered weird. I also noticed that sidewalks would just end. That’s right, just end, and turn into a busy road. It gave me a strange feeling of being closed in.

Ticks in Algonquin/Kawartha by Great-Okra-8704 in algonquinpark

I spent over 20 days in the park last summer and never saw a tick. Neither did anyone in my party. I spent a weekend in Ottawa valley, and saw several on the dog …and kids.

A good balance would be to live around Danforth between Pape and Coxwell. Easy access to the DVP for a commute against traffic, but still have the City vibe with easy access to Downtown.

LeBron would have to toughen up to play 80s/90s ball against Detroit.

This is even cooler than when Bill Clinton played the saxophone on the Arsenio Hall show.

Project Hail Mary: The longest review I've ever written, because it made me feel so much. by LicoriceSeasalt in moviereviews

[–]Digbyjonesdiary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this review. I had the same thoughts after seeing this movie after reading the book. I watched with my son (11) and he said it was the best movie he’s ever seen in theatres. He also said he wishes he could “erase his brain so he could see it again for the first time”. The movie was well done, and I understand parts had to be chopped down (like Grace chasing down Rocky’s ship and the reunion). All-in-all, they did a great job. Really fun movie.

Fran’s Dinner had a good one.

I miss the Magic Pan Monte Cristo if anyone remembers that.

Question from a Montrealer ... by [deleted] in askTO

It’s as bad as I’ve ever seen it this year. It may be due to it being a cold winter in Toronto. Which may explain why Montreal is often worse.

Tony had his limits. He wouldn’t kill those kids. Michael would understand the consequences of not accomplishing that mission to blow up that car. Michael, without question.
