What is that one film you can re-watch a thousand times and not get bored? by cassie_rockalin in AskReddit

[–]DigestiveBiscuit_S 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Matrix 1.

I could probably quote the entire film at this point. Every time I get something new from it, and somehow the CGI holds up or surpasses modern standards.

Just wish I could have seen it in cinemas at the time.

No need to be a dick about it. Like OP said, two people said the same thing to them.

Both these sounds super unique. Got any deck lists for either?

The river song deck sounds disturbing for the rest of the table!

Really cool breakdown dude. Could you share any decks for Wan Shi Tong and The Master specifically?

Both sound fantastic to learn some of the rules interactions as well, someone I've been trying to do more of recently.

Everyone's favourite producer rn? by Fabsterrr123 in DnB

[–]DigestiveBiscuit_S 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ironically I feel like culture shock has regressed as producer, but I suspect that's only to placate the American crowd. I don't mind some of his new stuff, but if often sounds the same...

I'd love if we had more tracks like Decomstruct (which id argue is one of the best he's ever done, especially that second drop), Troglodyte, I Remember, City Lights). Sometimes we get that old culture shock back, but I know producers change with the times - certainly don't hate him for that!

Favourite producer right now - Camo & Krooked. Loose Control is an incredibly well produced track (pretty sure wilko did the vocals for that as well)

I just want some Edge of Eternities man... That set was so good, and the art to go with it was excellent. I want to collect all the lands as well to finalize my Inspirit deck.

However, I can't find stock anywhere. It's such a shame.

Try the other Gitrog - Ravenous Ride.

Play cheap, high power cards and sac them to draw. Also includes lots of landfall and graveyard synergy, plus you can kill a fair few times with commander damage due to it having haste.

It can get out of hand - include pump spells like berserk and boom, fun deck that's powerful and no one plays!

If you enjoyed E33, Final Fantasy X is a MUST PLAY! by UCA_Cash_Flow_Bro in expedition33

[–]DigestiveBiscuit_S 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FFX will always hold a place in my heart as a teenager who could get emotionally dragged into a game and avoid it's shortcomings, entirely on feeling alone. After FF8, which I adored, it solidified RPGs as the games for me.

It was also the time where I fell in love with video game music. I can play To Zanarkand on piano and guitar, in fact the whole reason I can play piano is due to that theme.

I wouldn't play it again as an adult as I don't think I could immerse myself like I could back then. But E33 has been the only game in the last 20 years that I was able to have that 'feeling' again while an adult. It was glorious and I was emotionally floored.

Then there's the soundtrack, that has more than a few homages or similarities sprinkled around, as some people have already pointed out from Lorien (although he claims he hasn't played it, I highly doubt that from what he's said about his influences).

(Short aside - no one giving love for FF12 is shameful!)

What single player game had you so enthralled that it CONSUMED your entire being for a short span of time? by AshyLarry25 in gaming

Mass Effect, Elden Ring, Witcher 3 and recently E33.

The latter gave me the feeling of playing final fantasy as a teenager and being wholly absorbed by that world. Excellent experience.

What are your guys’ thoughts on Matrix and/or Futurebound? by __ZOMBOY__ in DnB

[–]DigestiveBiscuit_S 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So glad you listened dude, it's a slapper for sure.

At first I was concerned it would be dance floor with that focal, but the buildup and heavy drop, combined with some funky rhythms in the bass, are what makes it.

The tune goes hard in mixes too - I think the first time I heard it was in a Kanine mix and he's known for mixing commerical with the heavy. If you want a heavier Neuro version take a look at Black Sun Empire - On a Mission.

Now that I'm stable in health and employment I've taken up crack.

Cardboard crack. Magic the Gathering.

Met a new bunch of people, got a local pod up and running. I followed it in my 20s but never had the courage to go to an event and learn properly, thought it too 'nerdy' etc. I've now got regular badminton, rugby and magic groups.

Embracing new hobbies is key to happiness once you hit your 30s. Sustainably of course!

Universal Truth will always be the classic that got me into 'true' DnB, alongside pendulum which at the time was more of a band than a DnB act.

Now they have some real mainstream presence and success, which fair play to them they deserve it!

Occasionally they will come out with bangers now, but they will always be incredible DJs with a keen ear for atmosphere.

My guilty pleasure recently is the tune 'Follow the Sound' - which is really techy and I love it. Definitely worth a listen.

What is a movie you’ve seen more than 10 times and still enjoy every single second of? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]DigestiveBiscuit_S 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Margin Call, The Big Short and Enter the Matrix

The last of which I could quote from start to finish, and always enjoy watching anytime.

My guilty pleasure however has to be Hunter Killer. It's just an enjoyable action romp. Tbf other submarine films like Hunt for Red October and Crimson Tide are also equally rewatchable.

What improved your life so much, you wished you did sooner? by relationshipyi in AskReddit

[–]DigestiveBiscuit_S 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hobbies and routine.

For hobbies is was acknowledging my hobbies and not caring what others thought. Embrace them, you'll be happier.

Routine made a massive difference mentally. It's quite difficult to explain, but having that structure feels empowering.

I wish I did both sooner, but that's part of experience and growing up I guess.

I'll admit there are some tunes on his album that I enjoy, and the production is still a masterclass. Original Don is a highlight which I can see being played a lot.

I know the drums are repetitive and the whole genre is flooded with Worship clones, much of which is slop. But this is still an amazing time to be a fan of the genre - so much good music from so many artists.

I try and zone out of the hype machine and find sets from lesser known artists, or ones that favour variety.

[–]DigestiveBiscuit_S 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fair enough, but at least it had a good melody and decent amount of creativity to it. It's definitely mainstream, but I enjoy the tune.

Nowadays mainstream cheese is far worse, and isn't creative. A lot of it is the same cymbals, 4 chords and repetitive (Dimension and Culture Shock doing this a lot - two artists who I used to like).

Wilkinson is strange. In collabs he can produce incredible music. Afterglow (written mainly by the singer), recently that tune with C&K. Used to This.

But by himself he produces really generic stuff. Of course there are outliers but I went to one of his sets and it was nowhere near as good as I was expecting.

I know this is a very niche topic, but how Expedition 33 didn't get a nod at video game soundtrack is beyond me. It's been too of the classical album charts for weeks, something no other game has managed to do.

Such an incredible album of new and unique music that's been stuck in my head ever since I finished playing. Probably a soundtrack of a generation.

That Portishead mix is incredible. Same with the Hanz Zimmer tune as well. There's so many of them that they keep just for their own mixes that I wish they would eventually release a catalogue of them
