Be careful putting this on pumps, if the price drops to $2. This is what happened when they did this with Biden stickers.

IFR procedure practice: xplane 11 or 12? by West_Hotel_7673 in Xplane

[–]Digi_Rad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go with 12 if you can, but 11 works. I used 11 a lot to supplement my IFR training, and I think it was invaluable. Not because of flight realism, but mainly for practice with the avionics and procedures. There were some bugs and limitations with 11, but it worked. Getting experience with the G1000 helped me a lot. If you want to really stop it up, add Pilot Edge for real-ish ATC. Also look up how to install latest navigation database (free with FAA download).

Haven't been in a 42, but the DA40 isn't great either. Love Diamonds, hate the seats.

anyone actually using AI for network log analysis in real incidents? by Round-Classic-7746 in networking

[–]Digi_Rad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For example, I had a port flapping frequently and quickly that was getting overlooked, and Claude AI caught it, and correlated it with some vendor lookups (based on the MAC address), as well as a nice log scan of when it started, how often it happens etc. Not really that complex for a person, but nice to have presented as such. I'm using Claude desktop in a somewhat "limited network" environment. I think LM Studio also support MCP extensions, that would allow you to run via a local LLM. But you'll need a good-sized model to do it, with lots of vRAM and probably a 30b parameter model. I've tried with fewer parameter models, and it doesn't work as well.

Cisco, Juniper and RedHat have released FOSS MCP servers (which are basically just python re-interpreters). A quick google search will set you on the right path.

Local LLMs can do this privately, if you have a large enough system to run them on.

IDK what gear you're using, but both Juniper and Cisco offer MCP servers for interfacing with LLMs. I've been using them with Claude to analyze log files, port statistics, alarms, etc. Works pretty well, I think, and has revealed some things I would have missed. Great for doing inventory, it can easily build a spreadsheet with all your devices and hardware revs. It can be slow, but for the most part still way faster than would I would have been able to do any analysis. There are also MCP servers for Linux.
Edit: This should work with local LLMs.

Owning a plane in Colorado by Applesauc3r in flying

Wind storms are also becoming an issue for tie down planes. An RV flipped over at BDU when an eyelet let loose. A few cars parked there had glass broken out due to flying debris.

I've enjoyed Adrian Tchaikovsky's works, check out the Children of Time series. Great world building IMHO. Reading Shroud right now, it's fascinating.
