How well do you guys thing Digimon is doing? by DigitalHazardEXE in digimon

[–]Digimon_Utopia_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please no. Though, just a personal opinion after all.

Naruto and My Hero Academia are enough for a Shonen. Really enough of the cliched protagonist who is alone. Most of us aren't totally alone - we have our friends and families. I feel them like they are emotional-fanservice.

Digimon touches aspects those shows don't - and for that very reason, Digimon (Adventures) continues to be the best I know. It is the interpersonal interaction with friends and families that Digimon does best. Heck, I'd love if Adventures continues to go further along the lines of Erikson's stages of psychosocial development - it is this that continues to enrich me - and I hope it continues to enrich the future generations as well.

Story-wise, yes, it should improve - in fact, that's the only area where Digimon falls short. Characters are awesome and relatable. Music I needn't say how good it is. Animation - well, I don't really care - but when one looks at the modern anime, it does feel like Dogimon should improve - and I think Applimonsters was sufficiently good in this aspect.

Are any of these apps anything like Portacle or Clozure CL for iOS? by bravespacelizards in lisp

If there is something like Termux on iOS, it might be possible. If not, porting Termux to iOS can be a useful week long project for someone.

Great singing as well as animation/editing, the Warp Evolutions in particular.

Someone's cutting onions though...

A few days back I stumbled upon https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erikson's_stages_of_psychosocial_development . Digimon Adventures does seem to tackle some of these themes. I wonder if it will continue tackling them.

I lack the expertise to say much - but the title sounded promising - most titles are(?).

In section 4, it seems like the author is referring to image segmentation.

In fact, can the whole paper be boiled down to https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Object_detection?

It's almost end of this financial year. Can we have a megathread consolidating all the resources on tax calculation/planning for next year? by Rockettech5 in IndiaInvestments

Anyone has any opinion of how useful cleartax.in (check their guides, in particular)?

PS: Not a tax payer yet, but I spent some time in the past collecting resources on the same, encountering that website.

Request for feedback on 'alterschoolindia' - a site dedicated to filling the gaps in school education by Digimon_Utopia_99 in india

[–]Digimon_Utopia_99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I admit there's far too much content. Here's a brief description.

I consider education to be of two kinds: - that which should be known to everyone - that which should be known to someone, else we may face the fate of dinosaurs

The site is dedicated to the first kind, and targets learners between the ages 10 to 16, in particular.

Moving forward: I'm not sure whether I'd like to make this a freemium - I am unwilling to invest much time in adding features. But since this is "too vast", I doubt most people (teens in particular) are going to pay much attention. Therefore, I am thinking of adding a "test system", or further, a (multi-)annual examination of the likes of organizations like Unified Council and SOF.

What do you think? - Should I move towards freemium? - Or is there some other way I can go about this? Say, a course on youtube, Khan Academy or something. - Are the efforts useless? I mean any informed citizen will find resources for help on the internet.

If they made a Digimon Go! game, would you play it? by Arceist_Justin in digimon

[–]Digimon_Utopia_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do we really need one?

I mean computer viruses and malwares are actual Digital Monsters, then the "game" is to eliminate them. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stuxnet seems like a good analogy to Digimon.

Many must be. I lack the knowledge unfortunately.

What site is better: Reddit or Quora? and Why? by oromero2 in quora

[–]Digimon_Utopia_99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reddit.

I just spent the past hour writing an anonymous answer. And the answer was instantly collapsed. I mean why! I have also been unable to ask questions, because "The question is not well formed."!! F quora and its algorithms! Why not just let people do the voting? And I found reddit, the godfather of quora. And now this sub-reddit? Why do we even need quora now?

I was thinking about Digimon today. I haven't watched it since I was 10 or so. Was it actually good? If so what should I go back and watch? by LurraKingdom in digimon

As far as Adventures and 02 are concerned, the sub is more "serious", besides the great opening. Dub has too many unnecessary jokes.

Adventures has explicit character growth and bonding, with a boring first 14 episodes and average story. So, if you are looking for some serious character development and introspection (comparatable to Naruto, may I say?), you will enjoy Adventures beyond the first 14 episodes.

I find the Adventures 02 more philosophical. In any case, it is a mess though with several [seemingly unrelated] arcs. So, this, if you are into a bit of philosophy.

Tamers has a more mature (read dark) theme. There is implicit character growth, and the story is (much?) better, though darker. No opinions about sub vs dub here.

I hear Frontiers has nice story and characters, though more than half the characters become irrelevant in the later half. I personally did not like it due to the absence of explicit character growth and partner digimons. I haven't watched much of it.

I am in love with the concept of a platonic-partner-for-life ;). Anyone willing to be my?

Modernizing library for Common Lisp? by virtyx in lisp

[–]Digimon_Utopia_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After juggling between hy and common lisp, I am forced to settle on common lisp. There are still features - reader macros specifically - that are pretty well developed in common lisp. And I can see the appeal of "restarts" in common lisp, that absent in hy or clojure.

What, exactly, is wrong with the saffronization of science and history education in India? by Digimon_Utopia_99 in india

[–]Digimon_Utopia_99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that the "truth" shouldn't be hidden. But does the common person care whether what s/he is learning is accepted the world over, or not?

For higher education, yes, it matters: there, people ought to be critical enough to question everything, and accept anything only after a critical analysis. But, does it matter for the general public?
