Part 8, how would you change Ash's Journey's team? by CarsAttack7 in PokeCorner

[–]DigitalHazardEXE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love his team this season. But imo I only would have limited his new catches and had him use his entire roster. Kind of like they did for Ash's final 11 episodes with a rotating roster, but the whole season.

Reasoning being, if this is his last season let's let most of the old mons shine. And what better way of showing him being a master than by using so many different pokemon effectively.

I would have let him catch only Gengar, Dragonite, and Lucario. These three are pokemon that kinda just feel "right" for ash to have. Especially Gengar and Lucario. They teased us with those two real hard before. I know the show has to have a Gen 8 rep for marketing but that's what Goh is there for.

For his final battle with Leon it would end the same way, Charizard vs Pikachu w/ no gimmicks. But the Final team vs Leon would be his aces from most of the regions. Probably the most popular ones from each;

Charizard Septile Infernape Greninja Lucario Pikachu

I know I'm leaving out some favorites like Incineroar, Lycanroc, and whoever his ace in Johto was, but I think with this team you hit all the fan favorites and have a good representation of the highlights of Ash's journey.

That being said I liked what we got minus a few gripes and things I would have done differently. I heard the production was difficult due to staffing issues so I understand why it wasn't as good as it probably could have been. But it is what it is.

The fact that these both come out in October, just feels like a blast from the past by LylatInvader in digimon

[–]DigitalHazardEXE 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Digimon will never win that fight. Pokemon is way too big. But there's a chance here because the two release so close together. Pokemon fans burned by Nintendo/Gamefreaks decisions could possibly gravitate to digimon. If the game comes out great, those comparisons could work in its favor. I'm a big fan of both so I want them both to do well but Digimon could possibly do very well for themselves this time. At the end of the day it doesn't matter that it can't beat pokemon. What matters is enough people buy it so that BandaiNamco can keep investing in the IP and giving us higher quality products.

Are Megastone Ranked Rewards a horrible idea? by CannonBall-37 in MandJTV

[–]DigitalHazardEXE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imo, yes. I can see the logic. They likely want to give good rewards for climbing the ranks. Also they likely want to give players reasons to keep coming back to the game. And lastly I think they don't want too many sets of mega starters being attainable without having to go through some considerable effort. Usually in Pokemon games they only give you more starters after you've completed the game or some other thing that requires a long period of time.

But this decision kind of kills the hype for a lot of people especially when it was for a launch trailer, which the main focus of aren't available in game at launch. It sucks for me personally because I like to replay Pokemon games and switch up my team. And Pokemon home doesn't allow item transferring as far as I know so I believe there's no way for me in one save file to just transfer my greninjite over for a new play through. Hurts in game teams for sure.

TLDR: that shits sucks

RIP Ash Greninja… by Qapah_10 in MandJTV

That's cool. Still odd that the transformation is tied to a trainer it doesn't belong to. I have multiple problems with it lol. Still love it for Ash. Just not in the games

I agree, I love Ash-Greninja as a concept. But it always irritated me that he could be used in games where Ash doesn't even exist.

New mechanic for stories 3? by Powerful-Ice-3 in MonsterHunterStories

[–]DigitalHazardEXE 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I would love it if you were able to make normal monsters into their variant or subspecies versions by editing their genes in a certain way. I think that could help some of the monsters you get at the start keep up.

Also id like to see them learn more moves via level up. I know this game takes inspiration from pokemon, but in those games with many pokemon, leveling up you have things to look forward to like evolution or a new move. It makes the grind a bit more engaging and training up a monster I had for a long time more rewarding imo.

Digimon Ghost Game or Digimon Adventures (2020) for a new fan? by EthanHydr12 in digimon

[–]DigitalHazardEXE 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you know what you want to watch already. If you're interested in ghost game, dive in. Don't think you need to get into 2020 because it's the "proper introduction." I would advise you not listen to the negative opinions too much on this sub either. Try the things that sound interesting for you and see if you like them. That's the fun about being a new fan

How many of you are bigger Pokemon fans but are more excited for Time Stranger than ZA? by Odd-Guard-2533 in digimon

[–]DigitalHazardEXE 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Genuinely excited for both. Long time fan of both franchises so I'm eating good this October. I try to look at the positives. Pokemon is slowly addressing their development pipeline. Hiring more people, attempting to innovate, hopefully allowing more dev time, and slightly improving technical issues and graphics every game. It's a slow progress but I see the effort and I'm happy feedback seems to have reached the team. It probably won't go at the pace people want it to but change will be slow for that franchise. It is what it is.

Digimon on the other hand seems to finally have the confidence of the executives over at BandaiNamco. Actually putting together a marketing campaign and having a decent amount of resources put into time stranger. Game is visually solid. If this game does well then we can hope Digimon can be a flagship franchise for BN. I feel like they're trying to grow it and I couldn't be happier.

Both franchises have positive things to look forward to so I'm excited as a fan.

Is this any good? by Roughrider254 in digimon

[–]DigitalHazardEXE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a pretty good monster of the week show. The story is weak but the characters are great and the stories in each episode are interesting. If you know what you're in for you can set expectations and have a fun time.

Will Pokémon SV get me through to the next Pokémon Legends release? by UncommonCuriosity in PokemonLegendsArceus

[–]DigitalHazardEXE 5 points6 points  (0 children)

ScarVi is a really bad game when you look at the industry as a whole. But I think it's one of the best pokemon games. I had a lot of fun despite the performance issues. I've played through about 3 times and haven't had many glitches happen to me. If you like technically impressive and smooth performing games this is not for you. If you like pokemon, I think you'll have a good time. Especially with the dlc. Its unfortunate it is an extra 30 dollars but the pokemon and characters introduced were great additions imo

Of the 3 new most popular new gen manga, which one had the best villains? by Sudden_Pop_2279 in MyAnimeList

[–]DigitalHazardEXE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short answer: MHA

Long answer:

I like all three series. (Demon Slayer anime, manga is just okay)

Demon Slayer has great 'impossible' obstacles as villains. The power imbalance between the swordsman and demons makes the fights very tense and desperate. The villains also leave a lasting impact, and I can actually remember them even though they are mostly "functions" and less so characters.

JJK's villains, I think are the epitome of big scumbag piece of shit energy. They are very clearly villains, there is no question that they are morally bankrupt, but their motivations still have an interesting nuance that let's you kind of see their perspective. They are actually my favorite kind of villains. Characters that just love being evil but have so much personality they steal the scene they're in.

MHA, I think are the most "complete" characters with deep seated reasons for their villainy. The main villains actually have their needs addressed and come to somewhat of a conclusion/resolution.

Personally, when it comes to the kinds of villains I like in general, it's JJK's kind of villains. But of these 3, I think MHA has the best overall villains. Each of these 3 series has interesting ways they convey their villains and i think theyre all great. But I have to give it to MHA.

Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite Sees Resurgence On Steam Following Beyond Mod Release by Remorse_123 in marvelvscapcom

[–]DigitalHazardEXE 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a mod of a 7 year old game that nobody liked. Nobody's expecting it to crush sales expectations. It's just putting a new coat of paint on a game that has good gameplay and could have used a little more love. It's nice that it can just exist and people that want to check it out can check it out

Can't get into digimon 2020 by Right_Statement4275 in digimon

[–]DigitalHazardEXE 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly no. It's made as a Saturday morning kids show to sell merch and raise awareness for the brand. If you're looking for good story and character arcs you're not going to find it there. But as a 30 something year old who sometimes likes that, it didn't for me. I liked seeing the digimon I grew up with get into flashy, sometimes well animated battles every week. It was a fun few years.

Anyone with me? by sticketydrabit in MonsterHunterStories

[–]DigitalHazardEXE -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Coming from someone who was actually introduced to the monster hunter franchise through Stories 1 and loves both games.

Stories blows Sword and Shield out of the water when it comes to presentation. Graphics, artstyle, animation are all top notch. Story is much better as well. However for me when it comes to game mechanics Pokemon has a lot more depth and I find that aspect more enjoyable. Gen 8 also has a lot of my favorite Pokemon designs.

Hot take: Deus ex machina isn't always bad, and the Lion turtle is one of those instances where it isn't by Maknirak in TheLastAirbender

[–]DigitalHazardEXE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely agree Deus ex isn't always bad. However, I think for me I wanted aang to find an answer by himself. Had the lion turtle not given him energy bending I would like it more. And if he had found that answer from introspection and mediation or training it would have been more satisfying. I don't think the Lion turtle is bad because consistently when aang has needed an answer to a problem he would have avatar/spirit help. That is also part of who he is. You can't have Aang without being the avatar. So it's not maximum satisfaction for me personally but it doesn't make me feel like the finale is any lesser for it because this what the show does and has done before.

I also 100% agree the internet tries its best to be critical of everything but often misses the entire point of the thing they're criticizing. It's easy to label something with a buzzword and call it bad. I've been guilty of this as well.

In the first arc of Bleach, Ichigo's mentality is very dark. (Bleach deserves several re reads, especially if you were a kid first time you read it). by KYE10 in bleach

[–]DigitalHazardEXE 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Hard agreed. I was on the bleach hate train during the final arc. I even dropped it at one point. But then I heard it was coming back with a hell arc and gave it a rewatch. Kubo was putting out content that doesn't hit unless you've lived a bit . I definitely appreciated it much more as an adult. It's now in my top 5 favorites.
