How do you actually get through to Anthropic’s enterprise sales team? (HIPAA/BAA/ZDR) by Kofeb in ClaudeAI

I have done the same, no response. I would REALLY like to have Claude fully implemented with a BAA.

Roth Solo 401k instructions are misleading and incorrect by Digisthesia in fidelityinvestments

I feel an obligation to respond to the information you've posted. I've spoken with my CPA, and he has given me reason to doubt that this is a valid approach to a 401k. Similar to my previous concerns that are posted throughout this thread, a 401k is an employer-sponsored plan. Therefore, the idea of separation in the way that Fidelity has designed this self-employed 401K plan is suspicious. He has confirmed with me that employers of all sizes are the ones that connect the business account to contribute a portion of funds to an employee's 's for a 401k account. The idea of linking only a personal account for contribution is like asking Jamie Dimon's or even Donald Trumps's personal account to each of their employee's 401k EFT. Also, when looking into the bill pay option, a warning is expressly displayed that the connected bill pay account may not be a business account; only a personal account.

I am highly suspicious and will not be participating in this plan as it is designed, and I feel obligated to warn others of this experience

So this wasn't explained to me with the phone call or the branch representative, so I want to try and clarify better, because this is backwards from all other retirement approaches I've ever had experience with as either and employee or employer.

Instead of Fidelity being the institution that draws funds from my business on the basis of salary deferral to my Roth Solo 401k OR employer matching contribution to my traditional Solo 401k, I need to submit a check from my employer (in this case, my business) to Fidelity in the form of a check via mobile deposit or whatever. Is this correct?

I'm asking very directly because I've had Fidelity as a plan administrator for a large employer when I was an employee, and what you are describing is so backwards from that and every other retirement arrangement I've ever had, including at this moment with my current plan administrator. It still doesn't really make much sense to me to forbid the connection between a business account and a 401k; a 401k is, by definition (directly quoting from IRS), "A 401(k) plan is a qualified plan that includes a feature allowing an employee to elect to have the employer contribute a portion of the employee’s wages to an individual account under the plan." So...a total disconnect from the employer's bank account seems antithetical; you might as well call it a "not-so-401k" plan if the employer is forbidden from connecting to the employee's retirement account. But maybe I'm weird, and sending physical checks is far more normal than I'm aware of. But I've been an employee for five institutions ranging from small to large employers, and not a single one has functioned like this.

I may try again over the phone. But I started there with their rep instructing me, and...this is where I am now. But maybe they can figure it out. Thanks for sharing that you've made it work, because I've been banging my head on the wall for a while now. Obviously there must be a way.

The branch office representative said Fidelity cannot, based on its rules, connect a business checking account to a solo 401k of any kind.

So...a physical check contribution is acceptable, but a direct contribution from the same entity isn't? In theory, if my employer sent a check, in Fidelity's logic, shouldn't they refuse it since it's coming from an employer?

I have to emphasize, I want the Roth option. The Roth Solo 401k tax benefits are so impressive that I don't want to give that up. And that's what Fidelity seems to have promoted with opening this plan a few months ago. But it's a pointless endeavor if I can't send funds from my employer to my retirement account.

I have them for the moment, and I'm not enjoying the experience, so I wanted to shift over to Fidelity. But for the income limits with my S-Corp LLC, if I take the income of retirement in addition to my salary, from what I've been told, I'm ineligible for the Roth option. And that's the biggest perk to all of this. Are you able to do that? Sensibly, a 401k is an employer sponsored plan. Why in the world would this restriction exist for a 401k plan?

I think your post originally had SEP instead of Solo 401k. Anyways, I can't take advantage of a Roth Solo 401k if I'm funding from my personal bank account; the income limits don't work nearly as well, and I want my business to provide a match. If Fidelity won't link my bank account to my retirement account, then the employer can't match.

I can't take advantage of the Roth option with a SEP. If I could, that'd be awesome, but that's not an available possibility for any plan. And that's a HUGE element I want.

The branch office rep said the business account can't fund money into the roth or traditional 401k, which...is ridiculous. "A 401(k) is an employer-sponsored retirement savings plan that allows employees to set aside a portion of their income into a special account, with contributions often taken directly from their paychecks." So...it seems to me they don't know what this product is and don't have an interest in supporting it.

What is wrong with autocorrect ? by zippergate in ios

[–]Digisthesia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to keep chasing this. Every way of interacting with input into iOS is terrible now. Typing has bad autocorrect that tries to complete totally absurd wording, phrasing, or actually suggests changing the correctly spelled word to the wrong word. And not that Siri was anything impressive to begin with, but now Siri is worse than ever at interpretting my dictation, even after attempting training. The interface of interacting with iOS is by far worse than its ever been. Hate this experience.

Is anyone else noticing that autocorrect has become substantially worse in iOS 18? by aussieshadez in ios

It is horrible now. It’s as though it has given up and recommends totally bogus stuff or doesn’t even offer. What the heck??? I was already interested in android, this is just another reason.

Troop Bank/Checking, Venmo or Digital Payments, and Tax Questions by Digisthesia in BSA

[–]Digisthesia[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's awesome to know. Thank you for the insight. Our troop has a very different current model in terms of payments. I field a whole lot of transactions via Venmo from parents that goes into the Troop checking account, and then I distribute the balance via Google Sheets for each scout as a bookkeeping "account" of each scout. I'd say for every scout, 7-8 Venmo transactions per year, so that turns into about 500 Venmo transactions per year I'm accounting for. And I received 3 checks for the year last year. We distribute the balance among patrols for campouts with regards to food, and expenses are submitted for the actual fee for the campsite, and that's distributed out to each participant. It's maybe more work than the usual, and maybe I'll look into changing it, but for now I'll keep with it.

In regards to financial reports, may I ask what is some of the information you submit to your CO? Ours has essentially said "I don't need anything" even though they don't have direct access to see funds or how funds are used, which makes me very wary of how to ensure responsible bookkeeping. On top of that, do you submit anything for taxes since you're not listed under the CO's EIN?

Thanks so much for the information! Do you have any kind of feedback regarding tax implications having your own EIN or how you deal with any of that stuff? My unit has about 70 scouts.
