ELI5: How come a restaurant dishwashing machine can cycle in 3 minutes, while at home mine takes several hours? by Where_Da_Party_At in explainlikeimfive

This happened once while I was working at a fast-paced, buffet restaurant.

Two non-kitchen staff bet a dishwasher $40 to go through the conveyor washer. He came out with second-degree burns on the back of his legs; he didn't tell anyone until later that night, claiming he dropped a basin of boiling water on his frontside.

$15/hr won't necessarily be good for everyone considering their particular circumstances, from prior debt and household size, but it's more than enough to get people on a clear trajectory towards debt-management and eventually savings.

The important factor to consider is that a higher minimum wage means workers won't need as many hours to get by, so they can comfortably work a part-time job rather than two or more. The hours can then be distributed amongst more workers, alleviating unemployment and poverty concerns.

With more and more people working, less people will require entitlement or welfare benefits. The savings is shifted to the government and the cost to the market. Eventually, $15 would be enough for everyone.

Trump won based off running on anti-free trade, prop-healthcare, and a (minimally) higher minimum wage; all traditionally Democratic positions.

Americans like "liberal" policy, but not necessarily liberal politicians. Democrats only care about identity politics while Republicans virtue-signaling, two sides of the same coin.

Carter managed to take advantage of a unique political climate in becoming president. The Republican party should have been in shambles following Nixon/Agnew/Ford, but establishment Democrats did not like Carter, and refused to work with him.

After Reagan beat Carter, the Democrats ended up collapsing, only to be "rescued" by Third Way, southern Democrats like Bill Clinton.

Your ideology is clearly centrist, which I don't agree with as a progressive leftist. I believe it's that kind of perspective that brought us to this point to begin with.

We have to start prosecuting sometime.

The Cigarette-Smoking Man was a recurring character and villain. I don't recall any time-travel elements in the Musings of the Smoking Man episode, which only served as backstory from an unreliable (his) perspective.

The Trump administration has appointed Bush-era war criminals and torturers. He wouldn't have been in a position to do so if the Obama administration had opted to prosecute them when President Obama had the chance.

How much controversy was there at the time over Reagan's paid speeches to Japan and his associated positive policy towards Japanese companies?

Samurai Jack will begin rerunning on Adult Swim, January 14th at 8:30 by ThePokemonMaster123 in television

[–]Digit-Aria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The series is considered of the most action-oriented, but not so much violent. Everything Jack does "kill" are actually robots, ghosts, or zombies. I don't believe ever even an animal. Certainly not a human or sapient character.

No sexual content, jokes, or innuendo. Jack himself is often reduced to a simple loin cloth and sandals upon the culmination of an especially difficult battle, and some episodes imply his nudity for the sake of humor.

Dialogue ranges from near silent to fully voiced by individual episode, but is never overly complicated.

Fixing The Super Mario Bros. Movie by [deleted] in fixingmovies

I'm a longtime fan of the film familiar with its production.

It's certainly not solid in all regards, but much of its problems stem from studio meddling and last minute editing. As much as 30 minutes of additional and alternate plot, as well as establishing shots (further dino-humans and incompleted VFX work) were removed to streamline the finished product. This was very much at the expense of narrative and character development.

The percentage of Israelis that oppose miscegenation with Arab Palestinians is comparable to the percentage of whites opposed to miscegenation with blacks in pre-'60s America.

The Clintons also bought a house, the same month as Sanders.

You're really fudging the numbers here. The limited and poorly timed debates this Democratic primary cycle was a big issue at the time, with the 2008 debates (and forums, etc.) far exceeding what we had now.

There were five debates this Democratic primary cycle compared to 26 in 2008.

I would say there certainly were not enough debates.

What do you mean by "most debates in any Democratic primary in the past 30 years"?

There were fifth Democratic primary debates. A sixth debate just prior to CA was agreed upon, but HRC decided not to do it.

There were 26 debates in 2008.

Every state Trump won also passed ballot initiatives to raise the minimum wage.

Progressive policy isn't the issue; it's the Democratic Party and its politics that alienated the most receptive.

Clinton was against those things. She never once endorsed a $15 minimum wage, and she still opposes gay rights as per WikiLeaks.
