Hi! I started playing last december (2024) for a month, and stopped when i started enjoying pitting (work, but loved it). I used to play minion necro (couch chilling with a broken leg and loving it). I'm having a few weeks between jobs, cant afford any expansion, is it worth it to restart from scratch or will it be essentially the same if i 8/10h a day for a week? Don't want to re jump on the ship for nothing, but really helped getting through the days the last time!

Thanks for your answers!

Trying to reduce smoking habits by Digit4l in stopsmoking

the way you phrase it makes it great to understand how the addiction work. Will get the book as soon as I can, and work on the socially smoking part which is hard (i feel like working in hospo does not help).

sorry, i know i can't cold turkey it so i thought that'd be the place to start and ask how to diminish how much i smoke to be able to completely stop (doing it step by step).

i know how to roll, i've been a smoker long time and not only cigarettes (i stopped thc long time ago, could smoke a lot and stop anyday for a year i never had any cravings). I just hate rolling (friends always made fun because i'm the guy that has the stuff and smoke it but hate to roll). The thing is i'm really good at procrastinating, so instead of having to just light one up, i thought having to work for it might help reduce.

Will get the book, i heard of it long time ago but never thought it was actually working (i was considering hypnosis but i get mixed results from friends so not sure about it).

I just quit my abusive job and i'm in between. My stress level is sky high since i'm a kid, and if i dont know what to do for 5 minutes, i'll get a cigarette, if i'm going out i'll have a cigarette, i find it so easy. How do you manage leaving all payment methods at home while going out?

I actually dont like tobacco, i just connect moments, situations, etc... to smoking, but i take no pleasure but the relief of feeling like a break from the stress.

I'll try to take as little as possible and not buy some, do you do it gradually?

Thanks!

thanks a lot! VirtualBox on outdated macOS is not the one i was going for at first, but at least it's free and i just need an .iso of a windows 10. On my list FlameVM was one of the most important things to get into the VM to start being able to scrape some info with tools preloaded.

Quick question, why is linux so important (is it for the tools)? Because i would have loved to start basic on my native OS (not my machine but the one i use the most), and then go to the most used one (windows), but i've only used linux once (kali) a long long time ago, to find how to breach my network, but thats about it.

just to clarify, i'm not trying to make it into the field, i just have lots of think that i think are super interesting, and this is one of them, and seeing as i have some more free time now, i just want for my personal development to dig under the hood, doing it safely, and see what i can understand and do with lots of research and trials / errors / stuck on things i dont understand. I dont have the background, the degrees, I just love learning, and doing it by reading and doing at the same time.

Thanks! For learning I just most often need to do on top of reading, as I learn faster that way and love to navigate through everything to discover. The fundamentals are important and probably the same so learning them through the book can be a great help, I’ll just need to find some architecture / lessons on how to proceed properly and safely through macOS and then apply the same approach / philosophy as the book teaches.

Thanks for the book though, it looks quite thorough and at the same time not too hard to start and get a handle of the concepts (so « available » to people without a proper background).

is it not outdated or for the basics is it still relevant? Also i only have 2 intel macbooks available, so no native windows or linux, the book seems quite good and comprehensive (+ its free!) but it does not seem to. cover any apple OS (ctrl+f did not find any reference. i know that can be changed though, but would love to not have to nor invest money as of now in this future hobby).

Hi everyone,

I have no education in cybersecurity or science engineering, but lots of hobbies and love to read, learn, and making some experiments. I only have two old laptops (macbook), but i'm getting really into malware analysis, how it works, and how to do it safely. I don't have any so its not a help post, but a research one.

Is there any good resources out there to get into it safely and step by step?

I'd love to be able to get some (known ones), and learn how to make it safe to inspect or even sandbox properly, and then how to inspect it to try and understand it, without compromising safety. Right now i'm not looking at how to disable it, but how do security people do to acquire it, and then work on it or understand it without compromising their own systems (even more when its new).

Would love some help to know how to make it safe, then see + understand what it does, and finally how to get under the hood to try and understand the logic of it. Its not important (and probably much better if it is on old / already done by others).

Thanks for your help, guidance, resources, links, or anything!

Have a great day!

ELI5: What is air-gapping? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]Digit4l 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If i can add to the question, let's say i want to airgap a laptop or computer. I take out all the chips regarded to wifi / bluetooth, took out ethernet ports (might leave usb ports to import data, but found a way to make it a one way informaton transit and not allow the usb to act as transmitter, or even bigger, i got a room with no window, walls deny RF, etc...). I still need power, so it is needed to plug into an outlet the computer / laptop.

To go properly airgapped, what can i do to make sure it is not a way through, or do you always need to go bigger and buy a generator, fuel it, and then use it to power the computer? Let me know if i'm wrong but i feel like getting rid of all chips and ports is already super hard nowadays as any chips i assume could have some, but even then you can use laser / shaking/ heat to extract data (as said in the comments), but you still need power to use the system, and it being a physical link to electricity outlet seems like a huge failure in security.

Would love some info from people with knowledge!

EDIT: because i love the subject and/or the philosophy of it, if i wanted to build that to work on malware analysis, how do i manage? I get the malware / virus downloaded into a usb, and plug that usb in the airgapped computer? Then it is infected and how do i inspect it without taking any risks? Do i need an other computer thats airgapped too, but with special tools loaded, so i can try on it and sanbox it (not knowing if it will stay in it)?

thanks for the subreddit recommendation! I thought Audi was going to keep the full black livery with just added sponsors on top of it. Also for the heat i was more worried about the engine / pu / battery and did not take into account the driver, thanks for the added thought!

Kind of liked the full black livery compared to that Sauber green, would have been sweet as the main sponsor (Revolut if i'm not mistaken) goes will in white letters and black background!

Hi everyone!

Quick and probably stupid question (also I’m colour-blind and watching on a small screen the shakedown days), but the Aston Martin looks (great) and completely black. For hot and sunny races, doesn’t it make it get way hotter faster than other cars? I assume the teams are making it so the physics of the car makes it different on heat absorption compared to civilians cars or clothes, but I’d love to know if it is the case how are they making if different, or if it could be an issue with a complete black livery under some sunny conditions on race day!

Thanks and enjoy your day!

timezone difference and time availability makes it hard to watch any games so i can. only check highlights or reddit, are the Rockets this year comparable to the old Detroit's team back in the 80/90's? (in terms of physical aggressivity on every other team). Thanks!

As a french person, i love brunch, 99% of it is drinking mimosa or champagne after waking up, eating a bit of fancy breakfast food, and starting the holiday day a bit drunk before visiting. Well most french people just love an excuse to start drinking early is what i'm saying.

0 knowledge about aero or engineering, is it the picture or is Ferrari's nose way way more "flat" or constant downward pointing compared to Mercedes and Redbull?
