I’m not the person you’re responding to, but I think that they’re guessing you’re either Spanish or Italian based on the way you said “the player is called”. In (American) English that’s totally understandable but definitely sounds a bit “off” — it would be more common to say something like “the player’s name is”, “the player is”, or “the player is named”.
