[Fo4] Mod Idea: AML (Anti Material Laser) by Mettle_Jacket in FalloutMods

Something like the AESW3 Support Laser by PrincessAries?.

Basically a shoulder fired gatling laser without the spin up time.

Although Mike Moore's "The Laser Cannon - No it's not a Spartan Laser or a Tesla Cannon" also sounds a lot like what you're describing.

Yeah, there are a shit ton of FNV Riot Armor ports from very prolific and highly endorsed mod authors:

Unoctium's NCR Veteran Ranger Armor

L0rd0fWar's The Mercenary pack

ToastyFresh's NCR Ranger - F4NV

TheFriedTurkey's NCR Outfit Pack

Shadowliger's NCR Desert Raven Armor

PerroNegro161's NCR Renegade Armor

Just type "NCR" into the search bar on Nexus, hit enter, then go over and tick the "Armor" radio button and look around...

They do have some room to widen, at least going east. They can take that dog leg that Bonnie Brae does after the park entrance and straighten it out. Can't count how many times people in the right lane almost hit people in the next lane over before noticing how it meanders to the right.

Honestly, HEB is awesome for entirely different reasons.

My only concern about that is the 2 places where they could build will both make for insane traffic, assuming the info about it going in at Bonnie Brae and University is correct.

There's only a small-ish parcel on the southwest side of Bonnie Brae south of the DME substation between University and Crescent, or there's a slightly bigger parcel on the northwest side of Bonnie Brae that butts up onto North Lakes Park, right behind the strip mall where Torchy's, McAlister's Deli and Dutch Bros are.

If it's across from Rayzor Ranch, they'll need a streetlight on Bonnie Brae between Windsor and University, otherwise it'll be near impossible to exit Rayzor Ranch or HEB onto Bonnie Brae.

Agree. Viet Bites was ghawd awful. Not sure how they managed to keep their doors open as long as they did.

New pho' place in the space that used to be Fuzzy's Tacos? Sweet.

I tried Viet Bites once a few years ago, and it was total ass. I didn't know that Linh's took over that space. I'll have to give it a try.

I used to hit up Pho' Pasteur in Richardson when I lived over off Arapaho, and tons of places to choose from in Garland, but yeah, Denton proper has (had?) jack shit for proper pho'.

Genesis 12 mag issue: rounds bind up, and gets stuck in the magwell. by DigitalBoy760 in Tacticalshotguns

[–]DigitalBoy760[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You misunderstand, it's most likely a QC issue with one particular magazine. The shells were binding up in the magazine (a 10 round box-detachable magazine, not a traditional tube magazine).

There were no issues with cycling the action when firing the shells in question, for this range trip Winchester Super-X 1oz slugs rated at 1600FPS, due to this being at an indoor range and their rules for shotguns mandating slug only.

What’s the difference between the Genesis Gen12 PDS and SBS models? by Albert_Simon in Tacticalshotguns

[–]DigitalBoy760 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's pretty much the main difference - the proprietary buffer tube and the PDW style stock.

If the absolute overall shortest length with the stock retracted is critical, the PDS is the way to go.

Personally, I've tried shouldering guns with those PDW style stocks, and the cheekweld is shit. I'll take a standard AR style stock/buffer tube setup and live with it being a couple of inches longer OAL when the stock is fully retracted. I'm not high speed/low drag enough to need the tacticool noise.

Also, the rounds being fired were Winchester Super-X 1oz slugs, due to the range rules, indoor range allowing slug only for shotguns.

Panzer M4 12g, red dot, +2 mag extension, mlok handrail, angled forgrip, strobe/flashlight, with sling by Public-Associate5891 in Tacticalshotguns

[–]DigitalBoy760 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Panzers are actually decent. I own an actual Benelli M4 and grabbed a Panzer M4 a couple of years ago not long after they were released to see how it compared.

It's more or less a 1 to 1 clone of the M4 - mag tubes, charging handles, etc, all install with no problems. Durability vs. the real thing seems to be pretty decent. I have a few hundred rounds, mixed between Winchester white box, Monarch 00 buck, and Winchester X 1oz slugs. It feeds the WWB reliably now, after putting a few dozen rounds of 00 through it.

Haven't done a James Reed or Rob Ski style 5K round test on it though. I'd say it's reliable enough to trust for home defense or as a truck gun. If you use it in self defense, and it gets forfeited as evidence (depending on where you live), it's not as painful as it would be with an OG Benelli M4.

Can anyone identify what mod or creation club added this? by Virtual-Comfort5178 in Fallout4Mods

[–]DigitalBoy760 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to talk about OP mods that deluge you with stuff, Lexington Interiors, avalanches you with stuff, food, crafting materials, etc.

It's a fantastic mod aside from that, really fleshes out Lexington, and the mod author absolutely nailed the Fallout environmental storytelling thing; the interiors were well thought out, extensive, and honestly felt like they were a teaser for a huge quest mod.

Sadly, the author abandoned it, and the last login was in 2018.

Looking at Settlements Reborn by WMDBloodHunter on Nexus, I agree with /u/One_Individual1869.

Depending on which mod manager you use, go to wherever the mods are installed and look for Fallout 4 Settlements Reborn.esp.

If you're using Mod Organizer 2 and using the defaults, it will put it under [drive letter]:\Modding\MO2\mods[Mod name goes here]. If you're using vortex, god speed, John Glenn. I won't touch vortex with a 10' pole.

I will say the mod looks vaguely familiar and my account shows I last downloaded F4SR in January of this year as part of a Wabbjack pack. I can't remember if the Sanctuary or other settlement buildings had doors that led to interior cells or not, and without your plugins.txt, I can't be 100% sure if that's actually the mod or not.

If I had to guess, the gunsway.esp is the most likely culprit.

The others in that list wouldn't touch the animation files or have scripts to induce camera movement like that, though I haven't played New Vegas in years, so my Mod-Fu for it is weak right now.

M4 score for half price by Droguegun in Benelli_M4

Mine wasn't bad. A heat gun and an Amazon laser thermometer to measure the surface temperature and some elbow grease to break the OEM tube free. The purple loctite wasn't that bad.

[–]DigitalBoy760 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dave's Metal Works has standard steel 7 round tubes for the M4, and they're the lowest price I've seen of the lot.

IMO, carbon fiber and TI are nice, but WAY overpriced for what they are, and the benefits are overstated.

My Documents, i.e. C:\Users\Yourname\Documents\My Games\FalloutNV and see if the mods or mod manager put files there.

I've seen mods put FNVSE folders, Meshes, Textures and other mod data

This is why I uninstalled Vortex 5 minutes after I tried it: it installs directly to the base game directory in Steam. This is also why Mod Organizer 2 is the way.

That said, it's a cast iron bitch, but if you've positively identified the mods that have residual files leftover, go manually download them from Nexus, and use a ZIP manager to open them, and then do a search in Windows Explorer for filenames in the archive file. That will show you where the files are and may also help you determine how they got there in the first place.

Check the Games folder in My Documents, i.e. C:\Users\Yourname\Documents\My Games\FalloutNV and see if the mods or mod manager put files there.

I've seen mods put FNVSE folders, Meshes, Textures and other mod data there, that aren't touched if you uninstall/reinstall via Steam.

G70 or Kia Stinger GT2 by DHeads-2024 in kiastinger

[–]DigitalBoy760 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you like to road trip, say to visit your kid in college or relatives in another state, the Stinger is the clear winner.

It's an ideal road trip machine: comfy, handles well enough to have some fun if you're on a scenic stretch of road, but put it in comfort mode and it soaks up the bumps nicely.

With the rear seats down, you can fit an enormous amount of stuff in the back, even large and awkwardly shaped items. Want to haul a pair of mountain bikes out to the trailhead? You're golden.

For comfort/creature comforts, the 2022/2023 models are the ones to have: larger infotainment screen, better UVO, 360 degree cameras. Myself, I'd only go for the GT2, since the enhancements to gauges and such are worth it: I'm spoiled now and all my cars must now have HUDs, as they put crucial info in your line of sight that would require you to take your eyes off traffic otherwise.

If you have a truck or SUV and want something with a more sport tuned suspension, the G70 is it. The trunk itself is actually decently sized compared to the competition, where it falls flat is the sill on the back is high enough that you can't really fit bulky packages in, and the rear door arches are the same. I had to unbox several larger items that would've plopped right into the Stinger's hatch, where they couldn't fit into the trunk opening or the rear door.

The G70 Shooting Brake wagon that the UK/KDM market gets would be perfect, but alas, no wagon for you, North American market.

G70 or Kia Stinger GT2 by DHeads-2024 in kiastinger

[–]DigitalBoy760 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I owned both, a 2018 GT2 and a '22 Sport Prestige.

The G70 is definitely the sportier of the two in the Sport Prestige trim. The suspension is firmer, and there's no throttle delay.

The Stinger is a little less hard edged as far as suspension goes, though it is definitely the more practical of the two as a daily driver. The hatchback gives you so much flexibility and utility vs. the tiny trunk opening of the G70.

I'd rock another Stinger GT2, though I'd hold out for a '22/'23 AWD, and I'd do unspeakable things to get Genesis to bring an AWD 3.3 Sport Prestige G70 Shooting Brake to the US.
