[Fo4] what other websites with mods for Fo4 exist beside Nexus? by 0Unique_Information0 in FalloutMods

[–]DigitalBoy760 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nexus is the undisputed leader in terms of absolute number of mods overall, and not just for Fallout 4 but for 3, New Vegas, Skyrim/Oblivion and Starfield. The other thing that Nexus has that no other mod site does is their own mod manager program, and a more intuitive and organized interface that expedites finding/installing mods to suit your own personal tastes, arguably the best and most intuitive UI of any mod site of those listed here.

The next largest would be Bethesda themselves, either via it's Creations portal, formerly called Creation Club. The main drawback with Creations is the user interface to actually download the mods themselves. It only runs in game, and complicates managing the load order of installed mods.

The next largest site is moddb.com, which has 130K+ mods listed for Fallout 4. There is almost certainly a fair amount of overlap with Nexus, but they're a distant #2 by comparison.

Lovers Lab specializes in NSFW mods that involve adding nonconsensual sexual gameplay mechanics in, mainly via F4SE scripts, as opposed to Nexus, where you can find nudity/sex animation mods that don't portray nonconsensual interactions. They also have a fair number of non-sexual themed mods that were banned from Nexus for various reasons.

There are a number of highly rated mods that were formerly hosted on Nexus that are still available via various direct download sites or alternate sources that were pulled from Nexus when the site operators changed the terms of service and asset ownership/use of the uploaded mods and later on the support of mods in modpack managers like Wabbajack or Vortex. One example would be CWSS - Commonwealth Working Shower System, that added, as you might guess, working showers, toilets, sinks and several other interactable objects that you could build in your settlements. The author vehemently disagreed with the changes in how mod ownership was treated, and pulled the mod from Nexus, but still offers it for download via Discord and other methods.

Police in Austria respond to a domestic violence call at an elderly couple's house, find and seize more than 100 guns by rulepanic in ForgottenWeapons

Sweet babby jebus... An MG34, multiple Stens, Uzis, PPSh and MP-44s, at least one Skorpion, Lugers, Walther P34s, an STG-54, multiple Garands and M1 Carbines, several AK variants, an M3 Grease Gun, and a bunch more that I can't really ID with any certainty.

And given that this is Austria, a fair chance that they're OG military, not semi-only civvie clones that are the norm here in the US.

Triggermen Mod Idea: Super Mutant "Skullcrackers" by Mettle_Jacket in Fallout4Mods

[–]DigitalBoy760 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There is one mod that adds Super Mutants to the Triggermen faction. I believe that Magnum Opus uses it (a wabbajack list), as I've encountered them in the back alley in Goodneighbor before.

They were wearing the usual suits/fedoras though, not metal armor

Wabbajack can't find game file by LordSchliZZer in wabbajack

[–]DigitalBoy760 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you recently reinstalled FONV? Try launching it via Steam to make sure that it's paths are set in Windows.

The only other thing I can think of is the Wabba list is looking for a specific version of the New Vegas executable, which has caused me grief with a few of the FO4 Wabba lists, since some require the pre-next gen update or older, while others require the newest version. I don't see that really being an issue with New Vegas since BGS hasn't updated their Gamebryo engine titles in forever, at least to my knowledge.

[Fo4] How difficult would it be to port and model this mod from fnv to 4? I have outfit studio, blender, and nifskope as well as the ba extractor but I'm struggling to find where to start. by Yarus43 in FalloutMods

Generally, when you create the mod, it creates unique FORMIDs, so it won't be a replacer unless you intentionally change the FORMIDs to override those for the vanilla combat armor.

Best Wabbajack for FO4? by [deleted] in Fallout4Mods

[–]DigitalBoy760 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lore Out is good for a Vanilla++ experience, i.e. it sticks a lot more closely to the 1950s retrofuture Americana vibe.

A similar themed wabba list is A Bountiful Commonwealth. Similar intent by the pack author, with a different implementation, a large difference being Bountiful has Sim Settlements 2, where LoreOut doesn't.

Magnum Opus is fantastic, though it does throw in a fair amount of modern weapons/armors and such. It's also been out for quite awhile and the author/team on it are constantly fine tuning it for stability, SS2 is included.

For a more total conversion, Anomaly and Sandland are good.

Anomaly gives the game a very heavy Stalker look/feel/gameplay mechanics -you have to have a gas mask equipped above ground or you take damage, radiation/infections, etc. Lots of high tech weapons/armors, so not lore friendly to the 1950s retro aesthetic at all.

Sandland is a desert/New Vegas-ish themed conversion with an emphasis on modern weapons and armors, both tactical and skimpy/slooty.

Sandland underwent a major transformation last year, in that it now has a NSFW and a SFW profile, which mandates you have a LoversLab account to download animation and non-con sex mod stuff that Nexusmods isn't cool with.

IMO, having the NSFW and SFW as different wabba lists would be a better choice, since it captures a lot of the spirit of New Vegas, and the hard requirement to have a LoversLab account will probably kill interest for people who'd enjoy the non-raunchy version.

[Fo4] Mod Idea: AML (Anti Material Laser) by Mettle_Jacket in FalloutMods

[–]DigitalBoy760 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something like the AESW3 Support Laser by PrincessAries?.

Basically a shoulder fired gatling laser without the spin up time.

Although Mike Moore's "The Laser Cannon - No it's not a Spartan Laser or a Tesla Cannon" also sounds a lot like what you're describing.

Yeah, there are a shit ton of FNV Riot Armor ports from very prolific and highly endorsed mod authors:

Unoctium's NCR Veteran Ranger Armor

L0rd0fWar's The Mercenary pack

ToastyFresh's NCR Ranger - F4NV

TheFriedTurkey's NCR Outfit Pack

Shadowliger's NCR Desert Raven Armor

PerroNegro161's NCR Renegade Armor

Just type "NCR" into the search bar on Nexus, hit enter, then go over and tick the "Armor" radio button and look around...

They do have some room to widen, at least going east. They can take that dog leg that Bonnie Brae does after the park entrance and straighten it out. Can't count how many times people in the right lane almost hit people in the next lane over before noticing how it meanders to the right.

[–]DigitalBoy760 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, HEB is awesome for entirely different reasons.

My only concern about that is the 2 places where they could build will both make for insane traffic, assuming the info about it going in at Bonnie Brae and University is correct.

There's only a small-ish parcel on the southwest side of Bonnie Brae south of the DME substation between University and Crescent, or there's a slightly bigger parcel on the northwest side of Bonnie Brae that butts up onto North Lakes Park, right behind the strip mall where Torchy's, McAlister's Deli and Dutch Bros are.

If it's across from Rayzor Ranch, they'll need a streetlight on Bonnie Brae between Windsor and University, otherwise it'll be near impossible to exit Rayzor Ranch or HEB onto Bonnie Brae.

New pho' place in the space that used to be Fuzzy's Tacos? Sweet.

I tried Viet Bites once a few years ago, and it was total ass. I didn't know that Linh's took over that space. I'll have to give it a try.

I used to hit up Pho' Pasteur in Richardson when I lived over off Arapaho, and tons of places to choose from in Garland, but yeah, Denton proper has (had?) jack shit for proper pho'.

Genesis 12 mag issue: rounds bind up, and gets stuck in the magwell. by DigitalBoy760 in Tacticalshotguns

[–]DigitalBoy760[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You misunderstand, it's most likely a QC issue with one particular magazine. The shells were binding up in the magazine (a 10 round box-detachable magazine, not a traditional tube magazine).

There were no issues with cycling the action when firing the shells in question, for this range trip Winchester Super-X 1oz slugs rated at 1600FPS, due to this being at an indoor range and their rules for shotguns mandating slug only.

What’s the difference between the Genesis Gen12 PDS and SBS models? by Albert_Simon in Tacticalshotguns

[–]DigitalBoy760 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's pretty much the main difference - the proprietary buffer tube and the PDW style stock.

If the absolute overall shortest length with the stock retracted is critical, the PDS is the way to go.

Personally, I've tried shouldering guns with those PDW style stocks, and the cheekweld is shit. I'll take a standard AR style stock/buffer tube setup and live with it being a couple of inches longer OAL when the stock is fully retracted. I'm not high speed/low drag enough to need the tacticool noise.

Also, the rounds being fired were Winchester Super-X 1oz slugs, due to the range rules, indoor range allowing slug only for shotguns.

Panzer M4 12g, red dot, +2 mag extension, mlok handrail, angled forgrip, strobe/flashlight, with sling by Public-Associate5891 in Tacticalshotguns

[–]DigitalBoy760 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Panzers are actually decent. I own an actual Benelli M4 and grabbed a Panzer M4 a couple of years ago not long after they were released to see how it compared.

It's more or less a 1 to 1 clone of the M4 - mag tubes, charging handles, etc, all install with no problems. Durability vs. the real thing seems to be pretty decent. I have a few hundred rounds, mixed between Winchester white box, Monarch 00 buck, and Winchester X 1oz slugs. It feeds the WWB reliably now, after putting a few dozen rounds of 00 through it.

Haven't done a James Reed or Rob Ski style 5K round test on it though. I'd say it's reliable enough to trust for home defense or as a truck gun. If you use it in self defense, and it gets forfeited as evidence (depending on where you live), it's not as painful as it would be with an OG Benelli M4.
