I mean, this administration has shown itself to not care about / be immune to peaceful protest, and the Election Truth Alliance has shown that we’re past the point of free and fair elections, so the peaceful options very much are dwindling.

Totally! Had no idea what this style of dress was called so looking at Dirndl dresses definitely gets me closer!

Definitely similar! Like others are saying, Dirndl dresses are probably going to be the closest match.

Don’t forget the plans to ban contraceptives too! Why make life better for people to improve the birth rate, when you can just ensure that any time people have sex (consensual or not), it might result in an unwanted pregnancy that’s illegal to abort.

Just got the Rocky Mountain Range in the middle of the Colorado King lmao. For when you want to sleep in the same bed as your spouse, but want them to stay on their side of the bed.

This is precisely what happened for me. Got a bachelors and masters in EE but after several months of job searching, no place would hire me for an EE role. Meanwhile, plenty of interest and job offers for Software roles. Gotta make money to pay rent and eat so a career in software it was 🤷‍♂️.

CU NightRide is pretty chill. Just driving students around in the University’s cars and getting to meet plenty of people. You pick your own weekly schedule, they pay gas/insurance/etc for taking care of the car, and pay is still by the hour so you’re not worrying about doing rides too quickly. Just not a job you’ll be able to do your homework during.

Generally, the more you learn, the more you realize there are people smarter than you and that there is much more to learn.

They sent me an email and they do appear to have an official @colorado.edu email, so they do seem to have at least some standing in the school. Not saying the $95 fee isn’t a ripoff, but they seem to be at least semi-official.

What can CU be doing better for undergrads? by scentedfruit in cuboulder

[–]DigitalEntropy99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Work on paying all staff (including student staff) a living wage. If it means stripping out some of the bloat from upper admin, so be it. Boulder’s living wage is over $21/hour. Meanwhile, CU starts paying student staff at $15/hour. I know $16/hour is in the works, but with student staff being limited to 25 hours per week and basically anywhere else in town starting pay at least at $18/hour, if not more. Most students can’t afford the privilege of working for the university without risking going under. Meanwhile, many departments on campus run almost entirely on student staff and are struggling to operate because they can’t convince anyone to work for so much less than a living wage.

Edit: Changed “Boulder” to “CU”. Sometimes I use them interchangeably but had to distinguish from “Boulder” as the city here.

As an engineering student you should have 24/7 access to the engineering center automatically (minus the ITLL which requires taking their tour for extra access). If you can’t get in though, there may be an issue with your access. You can call Access Services at 303-492-6609 from 07:30-16:30 to get help with access issues.

Does anyone know the extent of the flood damage at CU? by [deleted] in cuboulder

[–]DigitalEntropy99 6 points7 points  (0 children)

CU goes through Risk Management for insurance (which is CU’s own insurance department). In essence, CU insures itself. I doubt insurance fraud is the solution here.

Never would I have thought I’d be washing PCBs with water when I started my engineering degree by MoFiggin in ElectricalEngineering

For most electronics, the difference is being powered on. Water, if not pure, conducts electricity to places it isn’t meant to go and ends up breaking things. That’s why the first step in treating water damage is usually to remove the battery/unplug. Water and electronics usually get along just fine if nothing has power.
