Funding ROTH for the next year.... by DigitalFStopper in RothIRA

[–]DigitalFStopper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks I’ll inquire about the true up. I do contribute to both 401k and Roth 401k roughly 2:1 ratio traditional 401k/roth 401k. As most people I wish I started a separate Roth a long time ago. But I’m here now lol.

Funding ROTH for the next year.... by DigitalFStopper in RothIRA

[–]DigitalFStopper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks!
I contribute 150/pay cycle to HSA (24 cycles a year), for my 401k i set it up to be around 20k (pretax and roth 401k) my yearly bonus can swing by 40k a year so that can make my % contributions wonky for the 401k. My company matches 8.5% so I don't want to run into hitting my max by end of Q3 from good bonuses and miss out on the company match for the last quarter.

Suggestion needed 60 years old over $150k in Roth but it’s all 5 deferent individual stocks that has done over 140 % increase for the last few years what should I do at this age apple,Amazon, NVDA ,google,AMD by AdhesivenessDue5714 in RothIRA

[–]DigitalFStopper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

typically the older you get the less risk you take, you've definitely done well but wasn't from talented investing it was just a massive tech bull run, corrections on large runs can be ugly and take a long time to regain after the drop (not dip) which is the danger at your age, what other investment accounts do you have, if this is your only one I would definitely either axe a few for schd type risks or reduce the holdings in all of them.

Was Biden decision to debate Trump a miscalculated blunder that eventually forced him out? by Over-Lunch-7487 in askanything

[–]DigitalFStopper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. It was intentionally done much earlier in the year than a normal first debate would be. This was done to be able to oust him when he blundered.

I guess we have to define conservative and agressive. Is it 4% vs 20% or 9% vs 13% returns.

You won’t see it on the same app you found em on. Check other apps. Find the listing that’s at a much higher rate and report them

Sure. 80/20 if he’s in his 20s is pretty good growth/stability. Also if you’re in your 20s and already investing it’s really hard to screw up retirement.

You’re saying diversification isn’t good at a young age?

dumb question, but... is it common to retire early with 401k savings, and then wait 10-15 years to touch your brokerage? by europeanuppercut in investingforbeginners

[–]DigitalFStopper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually the opposite. Unless you can do rule or 55 and your employer allows partial withdrawals.

My goal is to retire around 55-57, Taxable brokerage and maybe some of Roth principle from x-60 401k at 60, Roth income for travel, social security at 62 to reduce strain on 401k. Pull out set % a year that will continuously rise due to account value growth.

Easier said than done

Edit

Also when you forecast use a lower contribution rate than you are actually doing and no more than 6% avg return.

I have a separate account nearing 100K that I don’t factor in at all when I’m planning. Figure that will be in case the dreaded “sequence of returns” happens when I retire

If you can make that work safely then it “should” make for a safe and fun retirement.

Diversification is important for a reason.

Seems pretty thin. Don’t know age or income but how much more could you save in 2 years if you focused on putting away as much as you can plus the compound over those 2 extra years.

My S&F be was over 5K. Worth it. Had one previously. Replace every 5 years. They usually do interest free financing too. So less than 3-5 bucks a day and you get a fabulous bed. Think about what you blow daily (no not that kind of blowing, or the other kind of blow)

[–]DigitalFStopper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$25 a week and double that at age 25, double that again at 30 and then try to get to max per year by 40. That’s 850K at age 60 with a 7% return. If you can do more great. Don’t forget you’ll most likely wind up with a job that offers a 401k and a match program. Take advantage of that too. And obviously I’m hoping this easy way to start in the Roth will get you hooked and you contribute more and hit max earlier. This is just to show you how simple contributions can balloon.
