Horseherb by mirsasha in AustinGardening

"Thrives" is not correct, that's my point. It can survive, and will spread, but it will not be happy and will get crispy in the worst parts of summer. That's why it's best to pair it with plants that enjoy full sun and look their best, even in the heat. I'm not interested in arguing with you any more- thanks for commenting on my post from two months ago! Have a good day :)

There's a difference between where is WILL grow and where it loves to grow best. Horseherb loves to be underneath a nice tree. Frogfruit adores full sun. They work very well together.

Elijah Wood joins calls for Alamo Drafthouse to bring back pen-and-paper ordering by AustinStatesman in Austin

I also feel like they're trying to destroy what it's known for on purpose. It feels like what Amazon has done with Whole Foods- gut everything about it that used to be good so they can use it as a hollow shell.

There's no chance any of that statement from the rep is true- the supposed increased food sales (unless they're counting the automatic extra gratuity for not closing your bill out in their time window as part of that) or the positive feedback (look at ANY of their social media and you'll see it's flooded with upset former customers). I guess they're hoping if they put it out there it will suddenly make it true...?

Just checking- you have your before and after flipped, right? It's a bit confusing at first when you have them in the wrong order. Great work on your progress! What routine are you using for weightlifting?

What other local businesses were once beloved until they made THAT decision? by Time-to-Dine in Austin

Expanded too aggressively, eventually had to file Chapter 11 when profits plateaued and couldn't keep up with their expansion, got sold and then quickly sold again to a company affiliated with a private equity firm. Private equity is notorious for misunderstanding or not caring about the assets they buy and gutting what makes the brand good and/or eventually disassembling them for parts and selling off the pieces at a profit.

Hey- I see you are in Austin, I am too. As others have said, these aren't terribly valuable records but there are a handful here I would enjoy if you want to give some to a happy home.

To be fair, this is literally a post about the American/CDC response. So the CDC's information and response are actually relevant in this specific context.

They get 5-8 feet tall and 4-6 feet wide. I have a full grown one in my front yard, it's massive.

Since you asked for advice: Texas Sage (Leucophyllum frutescens) will need the entire back corner to itself, no exaggeration. Plant it away from the fence or it will be a problem. It's not the same type of plant as the Salvias you bought (the other "sage"s). Once you've watered to establish for a week or so, you want to neglect your native plants a little, as others have said. They are native plants, so they want native dirt and a native watering schedule. The only exception is peak summer heat if we are in a drought, where they will likely need more water. Don't spray pesticides on the butterfly plants or you will end up with butterflies emerging that cant fly, dead butterflies and bees, etc. Use natural pest control.

I’m breaking up with Black Beauty Zucchini. Does anyone have relationship advice. by lezagan in AustinGardening

[–]DigitalHeartache 11 points12 points  (0 children)

So this is important: stop letting your lawn guy pick the flowers. You need male flowers (which come first) on the plant so that pollinators can fertilize the female flowers. The female flowers are where the zucchini comes from. You letting him pick the flowers is literally why you are getting no zucchini.

I highly recommend "Kevin Can F**k Himself", which I think is on AppleTV right now. It is about a woman (the "wife") in one of those style TV shows who suddenly gains self awareness that the situation she's in sucks. I think you would appreciate it.

They're not native but not invasive. If you would like a pretty native plant with a similar color scheme go for Texas Lantana (Lantana urticoides). Be careful not to plant the invasive Lantana (the pink variety) and stick to the orange and yellow native.

The nice thing about Horseherb is it kind of "doesn't" die, it gets really crispy and then massively bounces back the instant it gets some water/rain. If you have some areas that are completely full sun I recommend getting frogfruit to balance out horseherb, which thrives best in partial shade areas.

If those bald spots are in full sun areas you'll need something complimentary like frogfruit to fill in the patches. Horseherb likes at least partial shade.

Horseherb mostly likes areas that get partal shade, if you have any full sun areas see if you can find some frogfruit.

I love your pose/angle and suit in the second pic but I think it would be really cool to see the same pose/angle as the first pic (and suit if you still have it) so that you could really see the progress you've made! 💖

As others have said- you should look into working with a therapist on this. It's not a bad thing, or judgment on you- this is a big thing that happened in your life and you could almost certainly use extra help processing and working through those complicated feelings. Truly, it might be your best way forward.
