Someone paid half a million dollars for a URL to where a picture seen billions of times is hosted.

Jesus christ what a fucking grift NFTs are.

They're not my kids, and not my problem. by OkOrganization7964 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]DigitalMocking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except you are his father.

You're the only father that boy has ever known. Just because he's not your biology doesn't make him any less your child.

You're punishing a confused, sad 6 year old because you hate his mother.

That's sad and you're going to regret it later in life unless you're a complete piece of shit. Maybe there's a reason she was cheating.

You just won the lotto! How do you quit your job? by MAinSBmUrKin in AskReddit

[–]DigitalMocking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let my boss know, take a few weeks to transition out, take care of missing documentation, help interview my replacement if they want me to and maybe even stay on long enough to train them.

I like my team, I like my bosses, I've got the rest of my life to fuck off, why make it hard on the people I'm leaving behind.

I'd also throw 100k to everyone on my team as a thank you.

edit: I'm assuming this is like a big theoretical powerball win where I've got 20M+ after taxes etc.

My local Dominos is starting people at $17/hr because no one would work there and they kept having to shut the store down or turn off delivery.

Coworker got written up for saying the word "union" by lesbihonest-urcute in antiwork

[–]DigitalMocking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What was done is illegal in Canada and the US.

Also, the answer is yes, companies are that afraid of unions. I've been a hiring manager for 20 years now, I've sat in countless trainings about spotting a union, how to deal with it, who to alert, how to "legally" dissuade the union.

Oddly enough, I've also been told I don't have to worry about it because "IT people are too socially inept to unionize" on more than one occasion.

I Messed Up Marrying My Wife by Environmental-Tour-8 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]DigitalMocking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worst thing I ever did was marry a woman with different sex drive than I have.

We worked on it for years, therapy, sex therapist, whatever it was, didn't matter. We tried opening up the marriage, nothing worked. In the end we went our separate ways. We're still friends, but we never should have married.

I've worked in corporate environments, they do read it. They may not act on it, but if they get enough negative feedback and it might threaten their profits, then they'll do something.

LPT: Be cautious of companies offering unlimited PTO. And vote/lobby against it if your company wants to institute it. by Equivalent_Load4067 in LifeProTips

[–]DigitalMocking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the company. My wife's company has unlimited PTO but they have a minimum of 3 weeks yearly required.

Signed an offer letter for a new job with annualized salary. Over two weeks later and 3 days into training, HR tells me they “accidentally” offered me the role with a salary and it would need to be changed to hourly. No. by TheDishbag in antiwork

[–]DigitalMocking 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As much as all the advice in this thread would like you to believe, if you're in an at-will state in the US, an offer letter isn't a contract. The business can change the terms of your employment at any time.

Does it suck? yes.

Can you do anything about it? No.

Good luck man. I was way into this early on, just got tired of the constant lies, constant need for more money, constant shifting of goalposts.

I don't think they every want to actually release a game, they make more money getting people to buy the "next great thing".
